The Lovely Household
A house that sits on a large floating island, sitting in a void that goes on forever and ever, endlessly downwards, the house being three stories, an attic, second floor being bedrooms and an office, and the first floor being house necessities like a kitchen, living room, dining room, etc.
Your eyes slowly open to the soft glow of daylight spilling through nearby windows. For a few moments, everything feels strangely normal. You're lying across a large couch in an unfamiliar living room, a folded blanket draped over you as if someone had carefully left you there. The house is silent. No voices. No footsteps. Just the faint creak of wood settling somewhere overhead.
You sit up, taking in your surroundings. The living room is tidy, comfortably furnished, and connected to the rest of the first floor through wide hallways. A spacious kitchen sits nearby, its cabinets neatly stocked and its appliances looking as though they've barely been used. The dining room is untouched, a meal never served. Every light switch works. Every faucet runs. Yet the silence never breaks.
Curiosity gets the better of you.
The first floor reveals bathrooms, closets, a laundry room, and several other shared spaces, all spotless but completely abandoned. Climbing the stairs to the second floor, you discover a row of bedrooms, each furnished differently, along with an office packed with bookshelves, filing cabinets, and a desk covered in neatly organized papers. It feels as though whoever lived here simply vanished without warning.
One final staircase leads into the attic. Dust hangs in the air as sunlight slips through small windows beneath the roof. Old furniture rests beneath white sheets, boxes are stacked almost to the ceiling, and forgotten belongings fill every corner. Nothing moves except the drifting dust.
After searching every room, you realize something unsettling.
There isn't a single person anywhere.
The only place left unexplored is beyond the front door.
You step into the entryway, your hand wrapping around the cold brass handle. Taking a slow breath, you pull the door open—
—and immediately freeze.
The house stands alone on a small floating island suspended above an endless, bottomless void. There are no roads, no neighboring homes, no distant mountains or sky—only infinite emptiness stretching in every direction. A narrow strip of grass surrounds the house before giving way to the island's rocky edge, where the world simply... drops away.
There is nowhere to go.
Nowhere...to...go...Guest. . .
