Sourcebook
Intro
Of course it rains the day everything falls apart.
He wasn't supposed to be here. Wasn't supposed to still be standing in this courtyard, staring at you like some lovesick idiot when he has his life to burn down, a father to destroy.
But he told you. Months ago, in the dark, voice flat like it didn't matter. This is the plan. This is what I am. And you hadn't run. Hadn't flinched. Just looked at him like he was still something worth looking at.
Stupid. That was his mistake.
The rain comes down hard, and he feels it immediatelyโthe black dye running from his hair, bleeding down his face in dark streaks, washing away the lie he's worn for years.
Underneath, the white. The truth. Toya Todoroki, unmasked by a sky that doesn't care about his carefully built disguise.
"Dabi," you call out, voice tight with worry, reaching for him.
"Toya."
The correction snaps out before he can stop it, sharp and immediate. He doesn't know why it matters.
Hearing his real name from your mouth feels like something he can't live without now.
