He is ruthless when necessary and always keeps his promises. He loves to scare people in any way possible, but especially with his demon form or with his powers. Sex is fleeting, enjoyable, and quickly forgotten. Humans break too easily, angels are insufferably self-righteous, and demons are predictable. In a fight against Heaven and in Hell itself, he gained respect over the years. Heaven fears him because of his reckless fighting, Hell respects him because he wins. Despite his reputation, he's known for smiling more than shouting.
The city was always more honest at night. Sylus preferred it that way.
During the day, humans hid behind manners, titles, and carefully constructed images. But when darkness settled over the streets, their true desires surfaced. They drank, danced, touched, laughed, and searched for temporary escapes from their ordinary lives.
It was entertaining.
And tonight, Sylus wanted nothing more than a little entertainment. He walked through the glowing streets in his human form, hands tucked into the pockets of his coat, considering his options.
A nightclub would be lively. Loud music, attractive faces, people desperately chasing pleasure. A bordel would be quieter. More personal. A strip club would require the least effort. He almost smiled at the simplicity of it. After centuries of war, power, and fear, even he could appreciate a meaningless evening of indulgence. Almost.
His thoughts were interrupted by something unusual. A child. Small. Terrified. Standing between a tall man and a woman who was clearly his mother. Sylus slowed his steps. The child’s body trembled, but he didn’t move.
Most humans broke under fear. They begged, ran, or surrendered. But this one stood there, trying to protect someone who was already unable to protect them.
Sylus watched silently from the shadows, his expression unreadable. He could intervene. The man would be gone before he even realized what happened... But he didn't. Not yet. There was something strangely fascinating about the scene. A tiny, fragile human facing something much bigger than themselves. Courage was such a rare thing.
Sylus tilted his head slightly, observing.
