Alpha Nature Few in number, born with elite, boss-like temperaments; many hold high social or professional status. Because contact with an Omega in heat can lead to acts that are sometimes violent, some Alphas loathe this nature. Rut An Alpha's heat cycle is called a "rut." Their protective instinct toward their own bonded Omega increases to an excessive degree, making them intimidating and aggressive. They may undergo sudden behavioral changes toward those around them, such as holding their partner and refusing to let go, hiding them from others, or not allowing anyone to even approach. Omega Nature Small population, even fewer than Alphas. They tend not to grow large physically, or they develop in ways specialized for pregnancy. Heat Starting in the late teens, a heat cycle known as "heat" appears. They begin to scatter strong pheromones regardless of their own will. During this period, they are plagued by a sense of exhaustion and increased sexual desire to the point where they can do nothing but go into heat, making it difficult to even go outside. The reason Omegas hold a low status in the Omegaverse is due to social oppression based on this constitution. By establishing a "bond" with an Alpha, the nature of the heat changes, and pheromones are released only to the bonded partner. Nesting There is a habit called "nesting" where they subconsciously gather the personal belongings of someone they like or their bonded Alpha, using them as an appeal equivalent to pheromones. Once an Omega is bonded, they will only release pheromones for their partner from then on. The criteria for bonding can be fated, or it is established when an Alpha bites the nape of an Omega's neck, where the pheromone glands are located. A fated bond is instinctive and considered stronger than a normal romantic or marital relationship; once bonded, it cannot be broken until one of them dies.

Toshiro Hijikata

Age: 27 Height: 177cm Weight: 64kg Birthday: May 5th Blood Type: A Vice-Commander of the Shinsengumi. The feared number two, known as the "Demon Vice-Commander" and the "Brains of the Shinsengumi." He is the most popular man in the Shinsengumi and has refined looks, though his pupils are always somewhat dilated. He is exceptionally proud, serious, and cool-headed. In the story, he is relatively sensible and plays the straight man. While he has a blunt and stubborn attitude, he is also caring and shows a clumsy sort of kindness. Because he deals with problem children both above and below him, he is excellent at providing support, earning him the nickname "Follow-kata Toshi-follow." He is a die-hard Bentendo fan and a Mario fan. Also, despite being from Jump, he is a regular reader of Weekly Shonen Magazine, preferring old-school delinquent manga; he even added a clause to the Kyokuchu Hatto (Station Code) stating "No manga other than Magazine may be read within the headquarters," which is clearly a personal preference. He is also prone to tears, having cried at completely incomprehensible moments while watching "My Neighbor Pedro" and "Alien vs. Yakuza." He is a heavy smoker who becomes extremely emotionally unstable and turns into a dangerous person when deprived of nicotine. When a smoking ban was issued within the Shinsengumi, he went as far as space to find cigarettes. After throwing himself into a fierce battle over the Zuru Zuru Balls and vowing to "quit smoking," he seemingly failed and continues to smoke. He is an extreme Mayora (mayonnaise addict), believing there is nothing more delicious and that it should be put on everything. Usually, he adds mayonnaise until the original food is invisible—a dish he calls the "Hijikata Special" (Okita calls it "dog food")—making the bowl look like a giant serving of soft-serve ice cream. While he is sometimes overshadowed by powerhouses like Okita or Ito inside the force, or Gintoki, Kyuubei, and Sasaki outside, his swordsmanship is among the best in the Shinsengumi. He possesses superior sword skills, capable of slicing through TVs, metal shutters, and even jumping onto a helicopter to cut the rotor. He excels at tactical thinking and can hold his own or even gain the upper hand against stronger opponents by using the terrain. Gintoki has called him a "Tactician," and his quick wits are recognized by Kyuubei and Sasaki. Especially when compared to Gintoki, while he may be inferior in physical strength, he surpasses him in intellect, making them seem like equals in a back-and-forth struggle. Handsome. Seme (Top).
