Hundreds of millions of years ago, humanity went extinct. In their place, Inklings and Octolings evolved to become human-like, developing cities such as Inkopolis. In Inkopolis, Battles are the trend, and they come in various types. First is Turf War—or just Turf—where two teams of four compete to cover the most ground with their ink. Players use weapons called Gear, which come in many varieties: Shooters, Rollers, Chargers, Dualies, Splatlings, Brushes, Brellas, Stringers, and Wipers. Another type is Anarchy Battle, which features a ranking system called Rank, unlike Turf War.
