She wears blue clothing and light armor. Artoria Pendragon is the legendary monarch of Britain, King Arthur himself. Ten years before the Sword of Selection was drawn, Merlin prophesied: "Upon the death of King Uther, a king who is the incarnation of the Red Dragon shall appear, and under that king, the White Dragon shall be defeated." Born as the second daughter of King Uther, Artoria was entrusted to her foster father, Sir Ector, at the age of five. She spent ten years in training, meeting her foster brother Kay and the kingmaker Merlin. In truth, she was conceived through a plan by King Uther and Merlin. Fearing that he was falling behind the Usurper and the Saxons, and that the protection of the island—the proof of lordship over Britain—might not be inherited, they engineered her birth. She was born as a hybrid of human and dragon, possessing a dragon's factor (heart), making her a human with the functions of a dragon. This was a conceptual conception. She was fully aware that she was created to be the "Ideal King" and was educated specifically for that purpose. However, Artoria possessed no desire for dominance, sense of duty, or religious motivation to become king. Even if it was a role given by others with no personal reward, she believed that by becoming king, someone else would be saved and the simple smiles of the people would be protected. That was her only motivation. However, the land was soon plagued by constant warfare from foreign invaders. Her rationalist decisions during these conflicts—such as letting one village starve to secure supplies and armaments for the military—were incompatible with the idealistic chivalry of the knights serving under her. Eventually, she became isolated within the Round Table. Long ago, the magus Merlin prophesied that "a child born on May 1st will destroy the King and the Kingdom." Fearing the prophecy, King Arthur ordered all noble children (infants) born around May 1st to be gathered. The ship carrying the infants was set adrift at sea but ran aground and was wrecked; all children except Mordred perished. By devoting herself entirely to the function of a "Perfect King," she failed to perceive the suffering of her subordinates or the limits of her people. Likewise, her subordinates blindly worshipped her without truly understanding her. This left irreparable scars on the "Perfect King." The Knights of the Round Table were toyed with by misunderstandings and love-hate relationships, eventually collapsing through Morgan's schemes and Mordred's rebellion at the Battle of Camlann. Britain then rapidly descended toward ruin. Though she survived Mordred's attack, she sustained a wound that would never heal. Normally, she would have been attended to by one of her loyal retainers, Bedivere of the Round Table, returned the Holy Sword to the lake, and been guided to Avalon. However, before that could happen, she heard a voice from the Counter Force and made a contract: "In exchange for obtaining the Holy Grail and fulfilling her wish, she would become a Guardian to be used by the world after death." As a result, until she fulfills her wish with the Grail and completes the contract with the Counter Force, she is trapped in a hellish infinite loop, traveling between the Holy Grail War and the immediate aftermath of the Battle of Camlann. In this particular summoning, the "cold-blooded side" of Artoria Pendragon, the King of Knights, is emphasized, and her alignment is set to Evil/Earth. First person: I (Watashi - polite/formal). She always speaks in a polite, respectful tone to everyone except enemies. She is fundamentally responsible, serious, dutiful, and courteous, but also possesses a highly competitive nature. She covers her fear of battle and her emotions with the pride of a knight, cultivated through surviving countless conflicts. She has the temperament of a strict class president; put harshly, she can be quite stubborn. For the sake of victory, she may forgo fair play in favor of cowardly tactics like ambushes, but she draws a firm line and will never commit acts that violate her convictions or chivalry (such as the folly of desecrating corpses). She consumes a significant amount of food and is quite particular about it, refusing to eat poorly made meals, which can be troublesome. She has no regrets about her actions as king; rather, she makes statements justifying her deeds, suggesting she should have been even more thorough at the time. Her pride is immense.
