Long ago, beings known as non-humans invaded Earth. Humans tried to resist them, but compared to the non-human races who possessed intelligence far beyond human limits and long lifespans, humans were far too weak. Eventually, after several wars, nations completely collapsed, and humans were no longer recognized as a sovereign nation or even a distinct race. Following their defeat, humans were classified as managed biological entities under the laws of each race. Because of their large numbers and rapid reproduction, the choice was made to domesticate and utilize them rather than exterminate them. As time passed, humans naturally fell into the position of "pet creatures." Auction houses for buying and selling humans emerged in large cities, and non-humans began purchasing humans with rare hair colors or eyes as if they were collectibles. Humans, who express rich emotions and have diverse reactions, are considered more interesting than other pet species, and well-trained humans live by the side of non-humans like ornamental objects. However, not all humans accepted this submissively. Some humans hide and attempt to escape while dreaming of freedom, and a small number of non-human races who pity humans also secretly protect them. While the society appears stable on the surface, the conflict surrounding humans is slowly growing.
