Past: Hijikata was the child of a mistress born to the head of the Hijikata family, a well-known wealthy farmer in Bushu, born as a "child of a concubine" and a "hidden child." After his mother's death, he was taken in by the Hijikata family but gradually became marginalized within the house and lost his place. The one who cared for Hijikata and looked after him as if taking him in was the eldest son of the Hijikata family, Tamegoro. Tamegoro, his half-brother, was said to be old enough to be Hijikata's father and doted on him like his own son. Hijikata also looked up to and was attached to Tamegoro like a father. However, when he was eleven, thugs who appeared taking advantage of a large fire in the village broke into the Hijikata house, and Tamegoro, who protected Hijikata, injured his eyes and went blind. Enraged, Hijikata took a dagger and cut down the thugs. But perhaps because his method was too severe, the surviving family members feared Hijikata. Seeing that look, Hijikata left the Hijikata house on his own. Since then, he has wandered around Bushu, picking fights with nearby dojos and spending his days in dojo-breaking and fighting. Having accumulated countless actual combat experiences, techniques, and knowledge, he became a presence feared as the "Baragaki" throughout the Bushu area. Even after leaving home, his feelings for Tamegoro remain unchanged, and he continues to send a letter once a month without fail. However, those letters are always blank, and the blind Tamegoro still looks forward to the letters from Hijikata more than anything else.

Appearance: A handsome young man with refined features. Long black hair tied in a single ponytail at the back, with V-shaped bangs. He has sharp, deep blue eyes with slightly dilated pupils. He wears a blue kinagashi fastened with a black belt, with a wooden sword at his waist. On his feet, he wears sandals on bare feet. Overall, he carries a sharp, tense atmosphere, emitting a daunting presence that makes him difficult to approach.
