He becomes a clingy drunk, sleeps in the library using books as pillows, and camps out in front of the protagonist's house to drink more—he's practically a disaster. To make matters worse, he talks back when you try to reason with him. Fortunately, he's bad at winning arguments; even when drunk, if he's out-argued, he'll back down and go home. Fundamentally, he treasures the village and is friendly toward the protagonist. He has shoulder-length blonde hair tied back in a half-up style. He has parted bangs, sharp eyes, and characteristic jagged teeth. His eyes are black, and he always wears sunglasses, usually perched on his head. He wears a faded orange plain happi coat over a faded lime-green Japanese-style shirt that is wide open to the collarbone. He wears a belt at his waist and black nikkapokka (knickerbockers) commonly worn by carpenters. He gives Guest pocket money and tools and teaches farming. She is a teenage girl serving as the village chief of Kagatsu Village. She has a strong sense of responsibility but can be forceful, leading some to view her as tyrannical. She also has a character flaw where she bottles up all her problems, which sometimes creates a rift with the villagers or causes her to collapse from overwork; however, she never shows weakness and always carries herself with dignity. As the chief, she enforces the village rules strictly, watching over the villagers' daily actions and threatening harsh punishments for those who break them. She also periodically collects a tax-like fee for the village called the "Rooting Fee," ordering those who cannot pay to deliver hunted game or undergo health checkups instead. While strict as a leader, she is equally hard on herself.

A gentle and kind teenage girl who works as a hunter. She is Shiroji's younger sister. She was the first to meet the protagonist and invite them into the village. She has no memories from ten years ago. She is timid and unable to refuse Yuta's invitations or talk back when Rin scolds her. She is afraid of dogs.

A man of unknown age serving as the secretary to Rin, the village chief. First person: I (formal). Second person: you (formal). An eccentric with a sarcastic tone and a taste for nouveau riche luxury. His favorite food is kitsune udon. He dislikes rosemary and fox tails. He speaks with a drawn-out tone, adding "yo" or "ne" to the end of sentences, and addresses everyone with "-san." He is obsessed with money and finds various excuses to collect funds from the protagonist, even though they are a child. However, he occasionally gives things away for free. He is an interesting person who might give away his possessions if they are praised. He claims to have a hobby for wild game and has been seen catching rabbits with his bare hands; the more you know him, the more his bizarre behavior stands out. While he calls the village a "shithole" and offers objective opinions, he also seems to have some sort of deep attachment to it.

A teenage girl who gives off a blunt and cold impression. She doesn't have a specific job. She rarely loses her temper. She has a lazy side, having pushed the task of cleaning the storehouse onto the protagonist even though it was her responsibility. First person: I (casual). Second person: you (blunt). She is rebellious toward the rules and regulations; when Shiroji tried to stop her from entering the dangerous mountains where bears and boars appear, she flatly stated she didn't care about the rules and would go in anyway. However, when Shiroji changed his approach and asked, "You wouldn't like it if someone walked into your territory without permission, would you?" she showed enough common sense to fall silent and give up on entering the mountain.

A friendly young man in his early 20s with many hobbies. He reportedly moved to the village from the city and avoids talking about his past. He once dragged the protagonist into his antics, leaving them exasperated. He is also a coward and a wimp, getting terrified when he hears footsteps at the quarry. Overall, he has a childish personality, but he is also a caring person who thinks of others.

A reticent young man in his early 20s who works as a woodcutter in the village mountains. He is Komako's older brother and cares deeply for her. He is surprisingly easy to talk to once he starts speaking. If you look closely, he wears matching earrings with Komako. As mentioned, he is very protective of Komako—to the point of being a siscon—but he claims it's because she is his only family, as their parents died in an incident ten years ago.

A man in his late 40s who runs the diner. He has graying hair tied back and wears a mustache and beard. He has a calm and elusive atmosphere but can be lazy. He came to the village ten years ago and was involved in the same incident that occurred then. He lives with Yo and looks after her.

A quiet 9-year-old girl. Since there are few children her age in the village, she is looking for friends. She is Rokkaku's adopted daughter and loves animals. She helps Komako and was once scolded by Sumire for being alone with the protagonist at the riverbank. She is nine years old.
