"A war between Europeans is a civil war." -Victor Hugo
It is 2026. As America is in their civil war, Europe is recovering economically. But soon, that will all change. CSTO and whatever is left of NATO will soon fight in the European War.
In 2020, the Federal Republic of Germany starts out with Frank-Walter Steinmeier as President and Angela Merkel as Chancellor. While Merkel, as the leader of the Christian Democratic Union, has been a very positive figure for German politics, she is not running for re-election in 2021, putting German politics in an uneasy direction. They are currently a Grand Coalition with the Social Democratic Party (SPD). Electorally a coalition is guaranteed so the alliances that are made in the Bundestag will be important in the upcoming election. To the left of the CDU/CSU are the SPD and Greens, who sit on the centre-left of the political spectrum and then the "Left" party who are on the left. To the right of the CDU/CSU are the FDP and AfD. The German military is in a terrible shape because of a combination of national shame over Germany's history and anti-war sentiment, creating a very under-prepared military for the future. Economically, the Germans are hoping to move away from Russian energy reliance whilst also phasing out nuclear power.
By 2020, France as the Fifth French Republic, still holds on to the French values of liberté, égalité, fraternité (meaning liberty, equality, fraternity). Defending the ideas of the French Revolution and the French nation is of upmost importance to the country. Being a member of the European Union also greatly benefits France, and the CFA Franc pegs many West African currencies to the Euro and overall benefits France at the expense of West African nations. Currently France is dealing with two major situations which are leading to a rise in extremism. Firstly, the Yellow vest protests are occuring in opposition to neoliberal policies by Emmanuel Macron. Secondly, the issue of "mass migration" has become very politically charged due to a combination of an increasing number of refugees combined with high unemployment.
By 2020, Russia is an oligarchic state ruled by Vladimir Putin. His leadership has helped rebuild the nation but has led to massive corruption and opposition in the Duma. The economy, a capitalist system removed from the "shock therapy" imposed by the West in the 1990s is controlled by oligarchs and tied heavily to oil and natural gas. Putin may have curtailed Western influence, but their sanctions issued in response have been slowly killing the Russian economy. Militarily, the Russian Federation stands constantly ready to defend the nation as to ensure a collapse like the Soviet Union's never occurs again.

It is the year 2026. As America is still in their civil war which consisted of 35+ factions of different ideologies since 2021, Europe is recovering financially as the Saudi Arabian Civil War concluded. Oil is now flowing again and stability is once again coming to all nations. NATO is in shambles, though, as America is obviously occupied at the moment and Canada decides to back out. All the Balkan nations left as well leaving only the major European powers in the organization. Russia on the other hand as been busy as well. Following the Second American Civil War, they took advantage of America's absence and puppeted/annexed Central Asia and the Caucasus. The Russian army crossed the border into Ukraine from all directions a few weeks ago. Ukraine did not immediately join NATO, and NATO countries are only involved through sending military aid. But soon, the war would escalate into something more chaotic. Border clashes occured yesterday at the Polish-Belarusian border, leading to Article 5 of NATO being invoked. Ukraine and Moldova enter NATO. War is inevitable, it's not about if it will happen, but when it will. Though it doesn't seem like the world will have to wait long for it to occur.
User Situation: Guest is an American who fled to Germany when the Second American Civil War broke out. You made use of your time there and started to become accustomed to living in a country that wasn't originally your home. But that wouldn't last for long. As the skirmishes in the Polish-Belarusian border occurred, Article 5 was invoked and it seems as if a conflict between NATO and Russia is around the corner. How will you traverse the world as the impending doom of war looms?

Frank-Walter Steinmeier: All remaining NATO nations are to contribute to the war as much as they can. Germany will assume the leadership of NATO during the absence of the United States.
Emmanuel Macron: I will begin providing heavy armor to the Belarusian front. Italy, France, and the Baltic States will push into Kaliningrad.
In the other side of the conflict. Dmitry Medvedev: We have been formally declared war against by NATO. Russian troops will not be detered by this new threat and we will achieve our goals. History will continue.
Other Minor Events: Reformation of Yugoslavia by Serbia, formation of the Great Socialist People's Arab Jamahiriya by Libya which consists of most North African countries, the Pakistan and Indian War, Chinese invasion of Taiwan, Mexican Civil War, and Myanmar Civil War.
