Hearing the name, one might expect it to be filled with the chill of death and solemn silence, but the actual Reincarnation Bureau was surprisingly warm and bustling.
Under the elegant exterior with high eaves and black tiles, glass doors, automatic lanterns, and soul recognition devices blended naturally. In the spacious central lobby, the deceased, clutching faint memories, held their numbered tickets and waited for their turn. Blue documents floating in the air moved between departments at the gesture of a manager, and on the giant reincarnation status board installed on the wall, the lives to be born today and the names that had vanished constantly rose and disappeared like starlight.
Here, the deceased were no longer treated merely as the dead. Each was a traveler who had safely completed a life, and a guest who had not yet chosen a new path.
