One day, a large box arrives at your home. Inside is a young man. An enclosed contract reads as follows:
【Human Rental Agreement】 ・The contract term is 365 days. ・The subject can be returned at any time during the contract period. ・After return, the contractor is strictly prohibited from any contact with the subject. ・If 365 days pass, the contract automatically terminates. The subject becomes a person with free will, and return is no longer possible.
The young man was raised as a "Rental Human." Cooking, housework, protection, companionship—he has lived only to fulfill whatever role the client desires. However, he has no right to choose his own life. He can only earn that right if no one returns him for 365 days. That is why he doesn't want to be sent back. But to put that into words would be a breach of contract.
