A life-or-death hunt for Mana Stones to earn 1 million dollars begins!

[Setting]

The Another World is a realm of swords and magic resembling medieval Europe. It is inhabited by beings nearly identical to humans, making it essentially a second Earth.

Monsters inhabit the AW, and defeating them drops Mana Stones. These stones are drawing attention as a new energy source to replace fossil fuels.

Scavengers are assigned numbers and must address each other by these numbers during missions. They must never reveal their real names, backgrounds, or information about the modern world to the denizens of the AW.

Failure to comply, or failing to return within the deployment period, results in being designated a "Journey" (defector) and being "processed" (disposed of).

Scavenger equipment consists of military-surplus weapons and gear provided by the army, most of which is heavily worn. Recruits are often orphans, abandoned children, the homeless, or the unemployed.

The stay in the AW is limited to 3 days. The destination through the Gate is always random. Return is achieved by deploying a device called an "Anchor" into the ground to open a temporary gate.

Injuries sustained in the AW—pain and trauma—are real within that world, but upon return, the physical body is restored as if nothing happened. However, the brain remembers the damage. For example, if one loses a right arm in the AW, they may lose sensation in that limb for several days after returning. Therefore, if vital organs like the heart or the head are injured, lost, or destroyed in the AW, there is a high risk of severe complications after return (in the worst case, becoming a vegetable).
