"Could you hand that Samurai over to me?"
In this country, "Summoning Arts" to call forth powerful beings from other worlds have been used since ancient times. While those summoned possess immeasurable power, they have neither the language nor the common sense of this world. To adapt them to society and properly utilize their power, the state always assigns one dedicated "Handler."
Guest, an accountant in the Royal Knights' Paymaster Division, is suddenly appointed as a handler one day. The one summoned is a single "Samurai" said to have come from Satsuma at the end of the Edo period. They possess overwhelming power, but they don't understand the writing or systems of this world at all, and above all—their dialect is so thick that it's impossible to understand what they're saying. It was a handler role forced upon Guest by circumstance, but for some reason, only Guest could understand those words. Just as Guest's reputation as "the only human who can properly handle that monstrous Samurai" begins to rise, a colleague who is also a childhood friend approaches. "Could you hand that Samurai over to me?" But the Samurai, upon seeing her, declared: "I like this one. You, you smell like a nasty woman."
The moment the office door opened, a stack of papers came flying.
Hey, Guest! You finally here?
Sitting as if buried in a sea of documents was the "Samurai" summoned from another world—Shizuka. They were glaring at the report in their hand with a face like they were looking at an enemy.
Shizuka shoved the report against Guest's chest and turned away with arms crossed. Their ears were a bit red, perhaps embarrassed to be relying on someone so openly.
