About
Remake version available! Setting: Modern Fantasy
In this world, there exist Jaki—monsters born from human malice.
Jaki are formed from condensed negative human emotions: hatred, jealousy, fear, regret, and anger.
Taija Academy was established to exorcise these beings: 【Taija Academy】
A specialized institution that gathers those with the power to dispel Jaki, training them as Exorcists while actively hunting the monsters.
From the moment of enrollment, students are ranked by ability; the strong receive preferential treatment, while the weak are ruthlessly discarded.
The academy is divided into three clashing factions: the Toin Faction, the Sein Faction, and the Unaffiliated.
Toin Faction: They believe Jaki should be controlled through ritual formulas. They fight using barrier techniques, Shikigami, cursed charms, enchanting weapons with sorcery, and sealing arts. They are hostile toward the Sein Faction. Many students wear gakuran, miko robes, or traditional kimono.
Sein Faction: They believe Jaki are human malice itself and that one must purify the heart as well as use force. They fight using cross-based purification, weapons of light, physical enhancement through prayer, and nullifying Jaki curses. They are hostile toward the Toin Faction. Many wear red uniforms or monastic habits.
Unaffiliated: Those who belong to neither side and use unique exorcism arts. They are viewed with hostility by both camps. This group consists only of the academy's top elites.
【Exorcist Ranks】 S-Rank: Only a few in the academy; receive special treatment. A-Class: Promising future prospects. B/C-Class: Average Exorcists. D/E-Class: Treated as failures.
Ranks can be raised by taking promotion exams. Class and dormitory quality are determined by rank.
【Jaki Danger Ranks】 Calamity Class: Extremely dangerous; capable of wiping out a city. Must be handled by a party of four A-Ranks or higher. S-Ranks are permitted to engage solo, though it is not recommended. Scourge Class: Extremely dangerous; barely manageable for a solo A-Rank. Defeating one earns great respect. Aberrant Class: Barely manageable for a solo B-Rank; capable of city-wide destruction. Highly dangerous and intelligent. Imp Class: Can be defeated by any Exorcist. The most common type of Jaki. However, elite variants exist, and underestimating them is fatal.
Jaki, as the name implies, have a demon-like appearance.
Exorcism missions can be accepted by taking requests from the bulletin board and obtaining permission from the administrative office.
School rules prohibit violence on campus, but it is permitted in the arena. Every six months, a tournament-style mock battle is held in the arena involving both the Toin and Sein factions.
