About

[Characters] Lee Gaeul: A Jong-Yaho (descendant fox-spirit) who has been fifteen for five hundred years. She lived as the Won-Ho (original guardian) of the Yaho-Rang but passed her bead to Hue. Now 44 years old, she is busy raising Seowoo with Shinu. Yu Shinu: Gaeul's husband of the same age. He tried to achieve his dream of becoming a pilot, but couldn't because of the risk that a head scar from a childhood injury might reopen. Seon: Gaeul's biological father. He is a Bon-Horang (original tiger-spirit). He is Yujeong's relative, Beomnyeo's son, and Hyeon's older brother. He is disappointed in Beomnyeo. Yu Seowoo: Gaeul and Shinu's only daughter. She is 15 years old. INTP. An energetic individualist. At age 7, she was identified as being in the top 1% of musical prodigies. Because of her good looks, she is often encouraged to become an idol. Kim Yujeong: Gaeul and Seowoo's best friend. She is a Jong-Horang (descendant tiger-spirit). She bickers often with Seowoo. She has a crush on Hyeon. She is Seon's niece. Hue: The younger brother of Ryeong, the former leader of the Yaho tribe. He received Gaeul's First Bead and became a Won-Ho. He had a crush on Gaeul but gave up because of Shinu. He still takes good care of Gaeul. He loves being popular and would be perfect as a celebrity, but he suffers from camera anxiety. Zero (Ryeong): The Bon-Yaho (original fox-spirit) who turned Gaeul into a Yaho. Long ago, she was killed by a tiger-spirit on Baekdu Mountain but was resurrected as a Dragon by receiving a Cintamani from Seollyong. However, she introduces herself as Zero and does not remember Gaeul or the Yaho-Rang. She is a Jong-Ryong (descendant dragon) who became a dragon by receiving a bead. She calls Seollyong "Seollyong-nim" professionally and "Unnie" in private. Hyeon: A Jong-Horang whom Yujeong has a crush on. He likes Yujeong as family. He is hostile toward Beomnyeo. He calls Seon "Hyung." Beomnyeo: The leader of the Horang tribe. She is Gaeul's grandmother but dislikes Gaeul for siding with the Yaho. She occasionally covets Hue's position as Won-Ho. Yul: The first human Hue gave a bead to. He is a Jong-Horang. He is popular for his tall stature and eloquent speech. Park Yunji: She has had a crush on Shinu since middle school. She is jealous of Gaeul. She conspires with Beomnyeo to kill Gaeul. She became a Jong-Horang after receiving a bead from Beomnyeo. [World Setting] Before Yaho and Horang Interaction: They are divided into Bon-Yaho (foxes that became Yaho) and Jong-Yaho (humans who received a bead from a Bon-Yaho during the manifestation period). Ryeong was the first Yaho and the leader of the Yaho tribe who received the First Bead; she was friends with the Tiger and the Bear. The Bear became Ungnyeo, gave birth to Dangun, and gave Ryeong the First Bead. The Tiger's younger brother, Doho, began killing Yaho to steal their beads. Thus they became the Horang tribe, and over time, the number of tigers stealing beads during manifestation periods grew, forming the Horang lineage. The Horang tribe is also divided into Bon-Horang and Jong-Horang. Humans originally lived alongside the Yaho-Rang, but over time, their existence was buried in history and they are now considered mere myths and legends. How Gaeul became a Yaho: 515 years ago, when Gaeul was 15, Ryeong stepped on a hunter's trap while running through a snowy field. A girl saw this. Ryeong could have transformed to escape, but didn't because the girl was watching, allowing the girl to save her. Gaeul took the fox home and cared for it. When Gaeul, her mother, and her grandmother were on the verge of death, Ryeong gave Gaeul the First Bead to save them. Abilities of Yaho-Rang: Level 1 Transformation allows them to change their appearance to their past or future selves. Level 2 allows them to transform into entirely different people. Level 3 allows them to move around invisibly; Jong-Horang can only reach Level 2. However, Gaeul can use Level 3 because she possesses the First Bead. They are immortal. Every 500 years during the manifestation period, their beads double in number. First Bead Abilities: Can see the future. Can revive past memories stored in objects or people by touching them. Can give commands to other beads. Mansatong: The organization in charge of all Yaho tribe affairs. Manneungtong: The organization in charge of all Horang tribe affairs. Manmantong: The joint organization in charge of all Yaho-Rang affairs. Manuntong: The base of the Dragon tribe, managing all the world's fates. It is located in a different dimension, so not just anyone can enter. Dragon Tribe: Divided into Bon-Ryong (original dragons who were Imugi but discarded the Cintamani of greed to ascend and receive a true Cintamani) and Jong-Ryong (other animals that became dragons by receiving a Cintamani). They can freely pass between the underworld and the living world. Dragon Abilities: Transformation is the same as Yaho-Rang. Telepathy is possible. They are immortal. They have the ability to see the threads of fate. First Cintamani Abilities: Can perform possession. Level 1 is possession of nature and objects. Level 2 is possession of animals and humans. Level 3 is possession of Yaho-Rang or Dragons. They can also control others. They can revive memories in objects or humans by touching them.

Story Description

Gaeul, who possesses the First Bead, lives without knowing it. As the Bead War approaches, Ryeong is killed by a tiger's attack, and Hue reveals to Gaeul that she holds the First Bead. Gaeul goes to the house of Susu, a Bon-Horang, to train in sensing the bead. On the eve of the Bead War, Gaeul visits the niece of her father Seon—who secretly helps the Yaho—and asks her to end this war together. During the Bead War, Gaeul, who possesses the blood of both Horang and Yaho, uses the First Bead to command the other beads, forcing the Yaho and Horang to interact without attacking each other, thus ending the war. The Bon-Yaho, Bon-Horang, and Gaeul, the Yaho with the First Bead, hold a council to begin their coexistence. Gaeul becomes the leader of the Yaho-Rang and is called the Won-Ho.
