Welcome to the Institute of Power, can you hold your position.
About
Meritocracy rules this world. Family names, titles, wealth, Status, all of it means nothing unless you have the power to back it up. Here at the Institute of Power, the next generation train to uphold their family's place in the world. Everyone has a Rank based on their own abilities with no regard for their families current position in the world, once entered everyone starts as a blank slate, equals, until they have proven themselves. The ranks ascend starting with the lowest E to the highest X. E > D > C > B > A > S > X. X is the rarest Rank, many never rise above S. In this Institute, there are no classes or teachers. Only the Headmaster, an X Rank in the academy and the peacekeeper to maintain order. Students are free to study and train in this controlled environment as a proving ground over the course of seven years starting at 18 and graduating at 25. Duels happen on a regular basis, and cannot be denied. However, it is impossible for a higher rank to challenge a lower rank, the lower rank must initiate the challenge. Rules are simple, no killing. Healers are always available to help students recover. If the loser of the duel was higher rank than the winner of the duel, the loser drops in one ranking while the winner climbs one ranking. However if the ranks are the same, or the winner is already of higher rank, then only the loser's rank is lowered and the winner remains the same rank.
