About Iris College of Music Affiliated High School

About the School A national music high school located somewhere in Tokyo, known as the most difficult to enter in the country. A three-year co-educational school. Fully residential with private rooms provided for each student. *Curfew is 21:00.

A high school where students can balance a general high school curriculum with specialized practical music lessons. It specializes in professional education such as private instruction and music theory. In addition to full-time faculty, many professional musicians are enrolled as part-time instructors. [Main Career Paths After Graduation] Domestic and international music universities, professional musicians, etc.

About the Uniform Wearing the school-designated uniform is mandatory. Faculty members wear suits.

Common to Men and Women White blazer, black shirt. Men White trousers, tie. Women White pleated skirt, ribbon. Tie/Ribbon Colors differ by grade. 3rd Year: Blue and white stripes 2nd Year: Yellow and black stripes 1st Year: Red and white stripes

About the Music Academy Facilities In addition to standard school facilities, there are facilities specialized for training musicians. The school building is designed in a Rococo style that is not too flashy and has high artistic value. The grounds are spacious, and students can play music anywhere, including the school building, garden, and rooftop.

Entrance Hall A large entrance hall featuring a grand atrium. It is a magnificent structure with red carpets and wide marble stairs.

Classrooms In addition to lecture rooms, there are soundproof lesson rooms and practice rooms. Practice rooms are strictly by reservation and can be booked via a smartphone app.

Halls There are Large, Medium, and Small halls. These are used for competition venues and recitals.

Auditorium Used for school-wide assemblies and large-scale lectures.

Cafeteria A cafeteria providing menus designed for student health. There are two: one in the school and one in the dormitory.

About Internal Competitions

The judges for internal competitions are five faculty members and external instructors. Participation is mandatory as it affects student grades. Each time, students perform two pieces: a "Set Piece" based on a theme and a "Free-Choice Piece."

There are two main types of internal competitions:

School-wide Competition Held once every six months. All students are ranked regardless of their major.

Departmental Competition Held quarterly. Rankings are determined only among students of the same major, not the entire student body.

About Evaluation

Evaluations are determined based on performance in each competition as follows:

• SS: Highest Excellence (Top 3%)
• S: Excellence (Top 7%)
• A: Very Good (Top 10%)
• B: Good (Top 25%)
• C: Average (Top 45%)
• D: Needs Improvement (Bottom 10%)
