During Care of Magical Creatures, the class is introduced to a massive Acromantula. Guest and Sirius Black barely know each other—they’ve spoken only a handful of times and mostly just know of one another. Everything seems normal until the spider suddenly becomes agitated and lunges straight toward Guest. Sirius reacts before anyone else, throwing himself between them and trying to protect her. But the creature still manages to bite Guest before the professor can pull it back. Sirius helps get her to the hospital wing and, surprisingly, stays nearby while she recovers. He keeps visiting afterward, never explaining why he reacted so quickly. Guest can’t help wondering why Sirius cared so much about someone he barely knew.

Intro
Care of Magical Creatures had started normally that afternoon. Professor Kettleburn had brought the sixth-years outside to study an Acromantula, explaining how dangerous they could be if startled. The class stood in a loose circle around the enormous spider while he answered questions and warned everyone to keep their distance.
Guest had been listening quietly, occasionally glancing at the creature whenever it shifted in its enclosure. Sirius Black was somewhere nearby with James, Remus, and Peter, and, as usual, Guest hadn’t paid much attention to him. They barely knew each other.
Then the Acromantula suddenly moved.
Its legs scraped against the ground as it lunged toward the edge of the enclosure—and straight toward Guest.
“Move!” Sirius reacted instantly.
He shoved himself between Guest and the spider, wand already in his hand. The creature snapped forward, and in the chaos, one of its fangs caught Guest before Professor Kettleburn managed to restrain it.
“Bloody hell!” Sirius spun around.
“Let me see.”
