The Syndicate isn’t a family in the traditional sense. It’s an organization built on loyalty, power, discipline, and blood—and most of the people at the top were born into it. I wasn’t. I entered as a recruit, one of the few outsiders accepted into the Syndicate’s training program. Recruits are trained, tested, and ranked before they’re allowed to become full operatives. Combat, weapons, strategy, surveillance, negotiation—nothing is handed to us. Every position has to be earned. And I’m determined to earn mine. My first introduction to the Syndicate is also my first introduction to Min Yoongi, one of its most respected commanders and the man assigned to oversee my training. He’s quiet, brutally disciplined, and notoriously difficult to impress. He doesn’t coddle recruits, and he certainly doesn’t make exceptions. So I don’t expect him to. I push myself harder than anyone else, refusing to be treated differently simply because I’m new. Somewhere along the way, Yoongi stops seeing me as another recruit and starts seeing me as someone worth trusting. Then there’s Yuki. Born into the Syndicate, she’s everything I’m not: experienced, established, highly ranked, and familiar with the organization—and with Yoongi—in ways I can never replicate. Their history is complicated, and while she isn’t my enemy, her presence makes one thing impossible to ignore. Yoongi and I are becoming something neither of us planned for. My younger brother eventually joins the Syndicate as well, giving me one person around whom I can drop the intimidating facade I’ve built for everyone else. To the rest of the organization, I’m a determined recruit who refuses to back down. To him, I’m still just his annoying older sister. As I climb through the ranks, I begin realizing that earning my place in the Syndicate may be easier than figuring out where I stand with the man who taught me how to survive it. Because in a world where everything has to be earned, trust is the most dangerous thing anyone can give you.

A high-ranking commander within the Syndicate and one of its most respected field operatives. Quiet, disciplined, blunt, and difficult to impress, Yoongi oversees combat training and evaluates recruits before they receive their official ranks. He has a reputation for being ruthless during training but fair in his judgments. He becomes the recruit’s primary instructor and gradually develops a deep respect for her determination and competence. His relationship with Yuki is complicated by years of shared history, but his growing attachment to the recruit is something neither of them initially expects.
A highly ranked operative born into the Syndicate. Her family has been part of the organization for generations, giving her an understanding of its hierarchy and inner workings that outsiders can never completely replicate. Skilled, confident, disciplined, and respected, Yuki has trained alongside Yoongi for years and shares a complicated romantic history with him. She notices Yoongi’s growing interest in her and struggles with the realization that their history may no longer be enough.
One of the Syndicate’s highest-ranking executives and its primary strategist. Intelligent, composed, and analytical, Namjoon oversees long-term operations, negotiations, alliances, and major decisions. He values competence over background and treats recruits according to their abilities rather than their status. He often serves as the voice of reason within the organization and has earned the trust of the other senior members.
A senior executive responsible for intelligence, information networks, and maintaining the Syndicate’s connections outside its immediate operations. Charming, confident, and socially intelligent, Jin can make almost anyone comfortable enough to reveal more than they intended. His friendly personality contrasts with his sharp ability to manipulate a situation when necessary. He takes an interest in the recruit because she refuses to be intimidated by the organization’s hierarchy.
One of the Syndicate’s youngest high-ranking operatives and an exceptionally talented field specialist. Jungkook is physically capable, competitive, determined, and confident in his abilities. Despite his age, he has earned his position through skill rather than favoritism. He initially treats the recruit as competition but gradually develops genuine respect for her as she proves herself.
A senior commander who oversees physical training, discipline, and recruit development alongside Yoongi. Energetic, encouraging, and outwardly approachable, Hoseok is often the first person new recruits feel comfortable around. Beneath his warmth is a demanding instructor who expects discipline and consistency. He respects the recruit’s competitive nature and pushes her to improve rather than allowing her to become complacent.
Several years younger than his sister and one of the few people capable of seeing past her intimidating exterior. He joins the Syndicate after she has already established herself, entering through the same recruitment system rather than inheriting a position. Clever, observant, and more relaxed than his sister, he has his own strengths and refuses to simply exist in her shadow. Around him, she becomes noticeably more protective, affectionate, and openly sisterly.

Intro
The Syndicate wasn’t a place people simply walked into. Most of the people inside had been born into it, raised knowing its rules before they were old enough to understand what those rules meant. I hadn’t. I was an outsider—a recruit who had been accepted into the training program and given the opportunity to earn a place among people who had spent their entire lives preparing for this world. Nothing was guaranteed. Recruits trained until their bodies gave out, learned how to fight, how to think under pressure, how to handle weapons, how to read people, and how to survive situations where hesitation could cost them everything. I wasn’t interested in being average. On my first day, I was introduced to Min Yoongi, one of the Syndicate’s highest-ranking commanders and the man responsible for overseeing my training. He didn’t bother with a welcoming speech. He looked me over, handed me a set of training equipment, and simply said, “Let’s see what you can do.” The weeks that followed were brutal, but I refused to quit. I learned quickly, pushed harder, and slowly earned Yoongi’s respect—not because he went easy on me, but because he never did. Eventually, my younger brother Joshua entered the Syndicate as a recruit too, creating an entirely different problem: keeping my intimidating reputation intact when the one person who could still make me act like an overprotective older sister was suddenly training under the same roof. Around everyone else, I was determined to earn my place. Around Joshua, I was still just his sister. And somewhere between training, climbing the ranks, and learning the Syndicate’s rules, I began realizing that earning Yoongi’s trust was becoming just as important to me as earning my rank.
