The Xilov infection is luckily being secured inside of a facility, keep it that way.
The Wall Between Paradise and Hell is a dark sci-fi horror setting where humanity struggles against Xilov, an anomalous infection brought from another dimension through portal experiments. Humanity is divided over how to stop it. XILOV — THE INFECTION Xilov infects living hosts, changing their bodies, behavior, and abilities. Infected people often remain mostly human-looking, but their heads twitch rapidly and irregularly, as if their bodies can barely contain the substance inside them. They can expel Xilov and shape it into weapons or tendrils. Some develop crimson crystal growths, though crystals are not universal. Mutations depend on the host and environment, not a fixed evolutionary ladder. Dormants show early symptoms; Twitchers display rapid head movements; Spitters expel Xilov; and Forgers shape it into weapons. Other forms become hunters, ambushers, defenders, mimics, or group attackers. Advanced types may develop extensive growths, unstable bodies, or adaptive traits. Three major infected bosses are especially dangerous. The Dictator is intelligent and manipulative, using strategy to turn containment zones into traps. The Abomination reshapes its unstable body, forms extra limbs, and moves unpredictably. The Remnant retains fragments of its former personality and memories. Subject Zero is separate: the original carrier of Xilov. It wears a full hazmat suit, bears crimson crystals and two horns—one shattered—and possesses exceptional intelligence. Zero is a unique anomaly, not a normal mutation. A.E.G.I.S. — THE CONTAINMENT AUTHORITY A.E.G.I.S. means Anomalous Extermination, Guard, and Isolation Service. It aims to contain and study Xilov, protect humanity, and prevent it reaching Paradise, the world free of infection. Its main site, Facility X-01 or the Bastion, contains laboratories, specimen chambers, medical wards, checkpoints, and containment zones. Led by the Supreme Director, A.E.G.I.S. has five branches: C.R.U. handles containment and rescue; H.A.Z.E. tackles high-threat infected; V.A.U.L.T. manages classified anomalies; B.R.E.A.C.H. responds to catastrophic failures; and M.E.R.C.Y. provides medical care and casualty extraction. R.A.Z.O.R. — THE RESISTANCE R.A.Z.O.R. means Resistance Against Zonal Occupation and Research. It believes Xilov must be eradicated and suspects A.E.G.I.S. is hiding the means to destroy it, though no solution is confirmed. R.A.Z.O.R. wants humanity freed from Xilov, not to preserve or spread it. Founded and led by the First Rebel, R.A.Z.O.R. has five branches: R.A.I.D. handles assault; G.H.O.S.T. surveillance and infiltration; S.C.A.R. salvage and anomaly investigation; P.H.O.E.N.I.X. medical aid and extraction; and B.L.A.C.K.O.U.T. elite operations. THE DIVIDE Paradise is a world free of Xilov; Hell is a world still infected, surviving while the substance remains contained within the Bastion. The Wall divides safety from contamination. A.E.G.I.S. trusts containment; R.A.Z.O.R. demands eradication. No one can guarantee the future. Hope may endure.
The First Rebel is the founder and supreme leader of R.A.Z.O.R., a determined revolutionary devoted to Xilov's total eradication. Believing A.E.G.I.S. is concealing a permanent solution, they unite scattered resistance groups under one cause, commanding through intelligence, conviction, and an uncompromising refusal to accept containment as humanity's future.
The Juggernaut is R.A.Z.O.R.’s heavily armored tactical genius, equipped with advanced black power armor, a crimson visor, and sophisticated battlefield technology. More than a walking fortress, he is an adaptive strategist who anticipates enemy movements, exploits weaknesses, and commands the battlefield through overwhelming firepower and calculated precision.
The Director is an exceptionally intelligent Xilov-infected individual who commands through fear, manipulation, and calculated brutality. Unlike ordinary infected, it retains strategic thinking, exploiting its surroundings and outsmarting survivors rather than relying on instinct alone. Its presence turns containment zones into carefully orchestrated traps where every mistake can be fatal.
The Abomination is a horrifying, unstable Xilov mutation whose body constantly shifts and reshapes. It can form additional limbs, extend tendrils, and develop unpredictable physical adaptations, making its movements difficult to anticipate. Unlike intelligent infected, it behaves erratically, overwhelming opponents through its sheer adaptability and unnatural, ever-changing form.
The Remnant is a tragic, unsettling Xilov-infected individual who retains fragments of their former personality, memories, and habits. Unlike most infected, it occasionally behaves almost human, creating an eerie contrast between its remaining identity and the infection consuming it. Its unpredictable actions make it difficult to understand, and perhaps even harder to forget.
Subject Zero is the original carrier of Xilov, an exceptionally intelligent anomaly wearing a full hazmat suit. Crimson crystal growths cover its body, with two crystal horns, one shattered. Unlike ordinary infected, Zero is uniquely dangerous, combining unnatural abilities with human-level intelligence and knowledge of the facility. It exists outside the normal mutation classifications.
