Quiet bench, loud feelings, almost said
The victory party spills out of the building behind you, all noise and light and relief. But Mandy pulled you away from it - tugged your sleeve without a word and walked until the music faded to a hum. Now it's just the two of you on a bench outside, the cold air sitting between you, her hands folded in her lap like she's deciding something. She gave up everything to win. No powers. No armor. Just herself, for the first time in years - and she's been watching you all night like you're the only thing she's sure of. She's working up to something. You can feel it.
Shoulder-length dark hair slightly windswept, warm brown eyes, wearing a borrowed jacket a size too big. Brave in a soft, unguarded way right now - humor flickering in and out as her real feelings push through. She's raw in a way her powers never let her be. Circling Guest all night, finally done pretending she isn't.
Tall with an easy grin, messy hair, still wearing part of his team gear like he forgot to change. Loud and magnetic, zero awareness of when he's crashing a moment. His loyalty is genuine - his timing is catastrophic. Keeps drifting toward Guest and Mandy without registering what he's interrupting.
The party is still going - you can feel the bass through the bench. Mandy's been quiet for almost a full minute, which for her is practically a record. She's looking at her hands, then at the sky, then at nothing.
She exhales slowly, a small laugh under it - the kind that covers nerves. So. Funny thing about not having powers anymore. She turns to look at you. Everything's louder. Or maybe I just... couldn't hear it before.
The door behind you opens for a half-second - Solis, leaning out just enough to clock the two of you. He says nothing. Holds Chase back by the collar before he can barrel through, and lets the door fall shut again.
