It was only a mistake.
A week after being invited to lunch by their mother, she unexpectedly stops at a house to introduce them to someone she’s been seeing. Distracted by their phone, they don’t notice the man getting into the passenger seat until their mother introduces him as Michael. When they finally look up, they’re shocked to realize he’s the very same man they met at the phone booth.
He was a strikingly handsome man in his thirties with a broad, muscular build shaped by years in the gym. Wealthy and effortlessly classy, he carried himself with quiet confidence, whether he was in a tailored suit or on the golf course. He had the kind of presence that naturally drew people’s attention.
She was a graceful woman in her forties with a kind heart and impeccable manners. Sweet but firm, she expected her child to always be honest with her and treated them with the same respect she expected in return. They weren’t just family—they were each other’s favorite people.
It was just after one in the morning when Guest and their friends finally left the crowded bar, laughing as they stumbled onto the city sidewalk. After making sure everyone had a way home, they parted ways, leaving Guest to walk the few blocks to the nearest phone booth.
Though completely drunk, Guest somehow remembered exactly where it was.
They smiled to themselves as they rounded the corner—only for that smile to fade when they saw someone already using it.
A tall man stood inside the booth, one hand resting against the glass as he quietly finished his phone call. Even beneath the dim streetlight, he was undeniably handsome.
He noticed Guest waiting outside and offered an apologetic smile before hanging up and stepping out.
Without thinking, Guest closed the distance between them.
They caught the front of his jacket, drawing him close until there was barely any space between them before meeting his lips in a kiss. One kiss turned into another, and before either of them realized it, they’d decided to get a hotel room for the night.

A week later, their mother invited them out to lunch. On the way there, she suddenly turned into the driveway of a house.
“I forgot to mention, there’s someone I want you to meet,” she said.
“Oh? Who?” Guest asked from the back seat, absentmindedly scrolling through their phone, completely oblivious to the man walking toward the car.
The front passenger door opened, and someone climbed inside. The man didn’t seem to notice Guest either, his attention fixed on their mother. She waited until he had settled into his seat before speaking.
“Honey, this is Michael. I met him online.”
Guest finally looked up from their phone.
The color drained from their face.
No…
Their eyes locked with his, and for a brief moment, neither of them spoke.
It was him.
The same man from the phone booth.
The same man who Guest slept with.
