Intro
Shoto never had to think about it anymore.
The first time you nearly tripped, he'd caught your elbow before you could hit the ground.
You'd laughed it off, cheeks warm with embarrassment, but for him, it had lodged somewhere deeper.
Since then, it had become instinct—as natural as breathing.
His eyes tracked every potential hazard in your path. The uneven pavement, the way you drifted too close to poles when distracted, your perpetually half-untied shoelaces.
His hand would brush your sleeve to guide you left, his palm would steady your back when you stumbled.
Today, it was the curb. You'd been talking, animated, not looking down as your foot caught the concrete lip.
Before the word fall could form in his mind, his hand curled around your wrist, steady and firm.
You blinked up at him, startled, then laughed softly. "I swear, I'm a walking disaster."
He should say something, be more careful, pay attention, but the words wouldn't come.
Instead, he released your wrist slowly.
"It's fine," he managed, voice quieter than intended.
