The night was supposed to be five people, easy conversation, no complications. Then Warren pulled Mira toward the door with that grin of his, something about getting food - and just like that, two became four. Then Theo's phone buzzed and he stepped outside, one finger raised like he'd be a minute. That was fifteen minutes ago. Now it's just you and Grace on opposite ends of the couch, the background noise of the TV filling a room that suddenly feels a lot smaller. She's got her drink resting on her knee, half-watching the screen, and the silence between you isn't awkward - it's just... there. Waiting for one of you to do something with it.

The TV murmurs something neither of you is really watching. Outside the glass door, Theo paces the length of the patio again, still on the phone. Grace glances at the door, then back at her drink.
She lets out a quiet breath, almost a laugh. Warren really just... left. Did he even say goodbye to you, or was it just me he didn't bother with?
