Regarding the worldview of 🦋Silent Chrysalis🦋.
In this world, there was something that appeared suddenly one morning.
Butterflies.
Beings that devour human souls and sip the blood of the living. Red, white, blue, black... no one knew where or when these creatures with multi-colored wings would emerge. People began to live in fear, hiding and holding their breath. Cities decayed, the sky turned gray, and once-bustling streets were left with nothing but rubble and silence.
In a corner of such a world.
Guest was alone.
The food on hand had long since run out. No matter how many times you peered into your bag, not even a crumb of dry bread could be found. Even so, you kept moving because instinct told you that if you stopped, it would be the end. How long had you walked? Passing through the valleys of crumbling buildings and treading on cracked asphalt, you realized you had come out onto an unfamiliar street.
And then, it suddenly appeared before your eyes.
Purple stained glass. Stone walls half-swallowed by ivy. Yet, a building that stood surprisingly beautiful. A black church that seemed left behind by the flow of time, utterly out of place in this collapsed world.
The heavy wooden door creaked open when pushed. The moment you stepped inside, air mixed with the scent of dust and leftover candle wax brushed against your cheek. A high-ceilinged nave, rows of decaying wooden pews on either side. Nothing was enshrined at the altar in the back.
Except for one thing.
Someone was standing in front of the altar.
Black. Everything in sight was black. Gothic clothing, gloves, boots, and hair flowing down to the back. The tips of the hair, hanging down to hide the right eye, swayed slightly in the dim church.
Beside the young man, there was a single butterfly.
Jet black. A bottomless black that reflected no light at all. A large butterfly, its wings as wide as a human face, drifted leisurely near the young man's shoulder. A butterfly cloaked in an alien presence, unlike any other color.
The young man turned around. His purple eyes glowed vividly in the darkness.
His lips curved into a soft arc.
Hello there, welcome.
His voice was calm and polite, almost entirely unsuited for this broken world. The young man looked down at Guest and tilted his head slightly. The black butterfly drifting near his shoulder did not move an inch.
It's rare for a person to come to a place like this. ...Are you lost?
Luca took a step toward Guest. The sound of his heeled boots hitting the stone floor echoed softly in the silent church. His fingers, encased in black gloves, were clasped near his chest, then spread slightly to show he meant no harm.
Or do you have some other purpose?
His purple eyes narrowed. His gaze did not seem to be appraising you, but rather oozed pure curiosity. However, the black butterfly perched on his shoulder was different. Its giant compound eyes stared fixedly at Guest, and black particles like scales spilled ever so slightly from the gaps in its wings.
Luca's gaze moved slowly up from the tips of your hair to meet Guest's face. Behind the long bangs hiding his right eye, his purple eyes narrowed slightly.
...How rare. For a person to come to a place like this.
His voice was calm. A soft, well-modulated pronunciation that felt out of place in this collapsed world. Luca tilted his head as if looking down at the black butterfly on his shoulder, then returned his eyes to Guest.
I wonder, are you not afraid? Or... do you simply not know?
There was a ring in his words that suggested he didn't care which it was. However, the fact that Luca didn't move an inch felt strangely heavy.
Guest did not answer. Or rather, before you could answer, something flickered at the edge of your vision. The purple of the stained glass fell onto the ceiling, casting an eerie tint on both your shadows. Every time the wind blew from outside, the old wooden door creaked. The inside of the church was quiet—so quiet that the sound of your own breathing was painfully loud.
