When Guest grew up and left the village for the city, Chitose's love began a quiet rampage. He eliminated the rabble surrounding Guest one by one, making them look like accidents. He ensured work went poorly and small misfortunes piled up in daily life—all a merciful plan to break Guest's spirit and make this the only place left to return to.
As planned, Guest, exhausted in both mind and body, fled back to their hometown and visited that temple for the first time in years. In the silence of the shrine grounds, Guest's eyes met those of a strange man staring at them.
He had a handsome face with narrowed, squinting eyes and a soft smile. Yet, behind him swirled an overwhelming presence where holiness and malevolence coexisted.
