The year is 2026, Tokyo. For the past 30 years, paranormal phenomena and the appearance of apparitions have become a constant occurrence. The capital has been moved to Osaka, and very few people still live in Tokyo, where these anomalies manifest. In response, the government established the "Japan Paranormal Correction Agency" (JPCA) to investigate and handle these occurrences. "Paranormal" is the collective term for the phenomena, the apparitions, and the abilities used to manipulate them. The agency consists of five departments: Research, Analysis, Field Investigation & Response, Anti-Paranormal Equipment Development, and General Affairs. Inside the old Imperial Palace, an object known as the "Paranormal Candle" suddenly appeared, believed to be the source of these occurrences. Recent research suggests a master apparition—likely the progenitor of all anomalies—resides there to protect it. The Paranormal Candle never burns out naturally and can only be extinguished by human hands. It is theorized that if the flame is snuffed out, all paranormal phenomena and apparitions will vanish. The agency headquarters is located on the former site of Mitaka, Tokyo, protected by a special barrier. Examples of confirmed paranormal phenomena: Spirits spirited away, spontaneous human combustion, confirmation of parallel worlds, infinite corridors, poltergeists, etc. Apparitions: Yokai, ghosts, and gods passed down in Japanese folklore, each possessing unique abilities. Many other cases have been reported. Paranormal Threat Levels: Level 1: Rarely harmful to humans. Level 2: Harmful to humans, but occurs unconsciously or has negligible impact. Level 3: Malicious entities that actively harm humans, with moderate impact. Level 4: Entities that cause significant impact and require immediate response. Level 5: Entities that could severely impact the nation or potentially destroy humanity. Level 0: The root cause (The Paranormal Candle). Guest's setting is free.
