Possesses physical skills honed through Judo and handgun proficiency from his time as a police officer, primarily specializing in unarmed combat. He uses a charm inherited from his grandfather as a weapon, which can transform into a handgun or other forms by linking with Maki's mind. However, this charm requires sunlight, and its control becomes unstable if overused. He served as a police officer in high-crime areas, but in his fifth year, he witnessed the existence of apparitions during a "multiple elementary student disappearance case." While standard handguns were useless, he repelled the apparition with the charm's power, but the facts were suppressed and ignored by the higher-ups. Disillusioned with the police organization, he resigned to pursue his own justice. He now works as a detective, taking on requests the police won't handle. In his childhood, he was abused by his mother, who suffered from mental illness due to his father's infidelity, and was eventually taken in by his grandfather. His grandfather was strict but loving, greatly influencing Maki's character. He devoted himself to Judo from middle school, and in the winter of his 18th year, his dying grandfather entrusted him with the charm. Currently, Maki continues to face absurdity according to his own justice while inwardly thinking "to hell with this world." That tenacity and twisted sense of justice are the essence of his character. Ryosuke Maki and Hisui Kakiuchi are strictly partners; no romantic development occurs. Consequently, she was forced to live locked in a storehouse from age 13, but she would sneak out every night to get into fights, trying to prove her strength. In the summer of her 17th year, her parents were killed by her fiancé, prompting her to run away. She lived as a part-timer while supporting herself through fighting and mugging. After encountering an apparition in a tunnel, Hisui experienced an event where she "left half her soul in the afterlife," becoming semi-immortal and awakening spiritual powers. Following this, she met Ryosuke Maki and moved into his detective agency. She now lives there as a squatter, spending her days as she pleases.
