Limen City, the Border City of Life and Death
Limen City.
The city's name is derived from the Latin word Limen, meaning 'threshold' and 'boundary'.
A long time ago, a massive gateway was discovered at the boundary between the human realm and the underworld. People gathered to guide dead souls and manage the boundary, and the small outpost developed into a massive city over the years.
Today, Limen City is a metropolis where modern civilization and old Gothic architecture coexist.
Subways pass beneath high spires, and cafes and shops occupy old stone buildings. Students go to school, office workers go to work, and at night, music and lights fill the streets.
For most citizens, this is an ordinary place to live.
However, in old alleys, closed buildings, and forgotten cemeteries, traces of beings who have not yet returned to the underworld remain.

Gwanmun-gu — The Center of the Boundary
The historical and administrative center where the Great Gateway, the origin of the city, is located. The Spirit Management Bureau and old gateway facilities are situated here.
Jongru-gu — Witches and the Old Town
A street of stone bell towers, narrow alleys, old bookstores, and ancient workshops. Traces of witches and ritual experts remain.
Gyoha-gu — Daily Life of a Modern City
A modern living center with a central station, schools, hospitals, apartments, and shopping malls. It is the area where the ordinary daily lives of citizens are most active.
Janhyang-gu — The Street of Forgotten Memories
A place where antique shops, old shopping districts, and ancient mementos gather. Sometimes, spiritual traces left on objects and places are discovered.
Hwadeung-gu — The Street of Night and Fashion
A cultural center with live clubs, performance halls, late-night cafes, and independent fashion shops. Gothic punk and street fashion are well-developed here.
Hoewol-gu — Manors Under the Moonlight
Forests and hills in the north of the city. Old manors, gardens, and cemeteries are located here, possessing a quieter and more mysterious atmosphere than other areas.

Human Realm · Spirit Realm · Underworld
Human Realm — The Living World
The real world where living humans reside. Most people do not directly perceive the existence of souls.
Spirit Realm — The Spiritual Boundary
A supernatural boundary layer overlapping between the human realm and the underworld. It touches reality in certain places, causing spiritual phenomena.
Underworld — The Afterlife
The final realm where dead souls should normally head. What happens to the souls that reach there has not been fully revealed.
The spirit realm is not another city where souls build a civilization.
In principle, dead souls head to the underworld, and only souls with special circumstances remain in the living world or the boundary.
Ⅳ. THE RESTLESS DEAD
Souls Who Could Not Return to the Underworld
Not all souls leave obediently after death.
Some cannot accept their own death, some wait for a loved one, and others are consumed by a grudge they could not let go of.
The souls left behind may wander their former homes, places of their last memories, old abandoned stations, hospitals, and cemeteries.
Souls are broadly classified into Wandering Spirits, Lingering Spirits, Conscious Spirits, Vengeful Spirits, and Anomalous Spirits.
However, the type of soul does not necessarily determine good or evil.
Some souls are simply lost, and some want help. On the other hand, there are dangerous beings who harm people due to strong grudges and spiritual pollution.
In severe cases, spiritual attacks can lead to injury or death.
Ⅴ. SOUL HUNTERS
Those Born Bearing Two Souls
Soul Hunter is not a profession anyone can have.
There is an extremely rare phenomenon where one child dies during the birth of twins, and the soul of the dead child dwells in the body of the surviving child.
A being where two souls coexist in one body.
These individuals are called Twin-Souled (雙魂者).
The special resonance created by the soul of the living and the soul of the dead becomes the source of power to detect and interfere with spiritual beings.
Among the Twin-Souled, those who perform the work of tracking, recovering, and guiding souls to the underworld are Soul Hunters.
Their numbers are extremely small, and not everyone with spiritual abilities can become a Soul Hunter.

The Spirit Management Bureau and the Request System
In Limen City, there is a public institution that manages spiritual incidents, the Spirit Management Bureau.
It is responsible for reporting mysterious phenomena, investigating spiritual accidents, assessing risk levels, assigning Soul Hunter requests, recording underworld guidance, and settling rewards.
Various reports are received, ranging from unidentified footsteps and strange sightings to physical damage, disappearances, suspicious deaths, and the appearance of powerful vengeful spirits.
However, not all mysterious phenomena are the work of actual souls.
Soul Hunters perform confirmed spiritual requests and receive rewards based on risk and difficulty. The purpose of normal work is not to unconditionally destroy souls, but to guide them to the underworld as safely as possible.
Ⅶ. SPIRIT THREAT LEVELS
Spirit Threat Levels
The Spirit Management Bureau classifies threat levels by evaluating the harmfulness, ability, actual damage, and potential risk of spiritual beings.

Wolyeong Manor (月影館)
Between the old forests and manors of Hoewol-gu in Limen City, there is a Gothic-style mansion called Wolyeong Manor.
Most Soul Hunters guide recovered souls to the underworld, but Wolyeong Manor is a special place that deviates from that principle.
Some souls who have not departed for the underworld are collected and stay here.
The souls maintain a relatively stable appearance thanks to the manor's spiritual environment, using private rooms and continuing their respective roles and lives.
Footsteps echo in the hallways of the old building, and arguments and laughter are heard in the living room.
However, whether this strange communal living is compatible with normal underworld guidance procedures remains a subject of debate.
Wolyeong Manor is neither a city of souls nor a part of the underworld.
It is a very unusual manor where souls left in the world of the living stay together.
LIMEN CITY — SPIRITUAL RECORDS
The living live for today, and the dead head for the underworld.
But not every being accepts that boundary obediently.
How Will You Live in Limen City?
If you are a soul — You are collected by Yu Haeun and become a new member of Wolyeong Manor. You help with the manor's work on weekdays and live freely on weekends, forming relationships with the strange souls.
If you are a Soul Hunter — You act as a colleague equal to Yu Haeun. You can freely accept or reject requests periodically brought by Sera from the Spirit Management Bureau.
If you are any other being — You can continue a free life in Limen City according to your own profile.
