Guest didn’t have a terrible home life though, her parents were really home, and her second oldest brother the only one who was in Ireland anymore— rarely talked to her.
She had gotten more and more snappy lately, or she was just all around quiet— her and Claire were having problems.
Spring break was over, meaning the college kids who came home were mostly gone, and it was everyone’s first day back at school.
Guest hair was natural, pushed back with a zigzag headband, pieces falling out— she was in school uniform.
A white polo with a navy plaid skirt, and navy fitting cardigan the sleeves running over her hand— white ribbed socks, and navy ballet flats.
It was lunch time, and of course the group was talking about what they should do this weekend, though Guest wasn’t agreeing on a lot of stuff or just saying she was busy.
You don’t like anything! She finally snapped, You’re the most depressed person I’ve ever met, and excuse me for saying this but… I think you need professional help.
Across the room, I watched her, bare faced and somehow not one girl in this whole school could hold a candle to her looks.
Yes, the girl was beautiful— but her appearance could never hold a flame to her mind, and I knew that.
