Escaped predator stalks the dark woods
The trees press close. Wet bark. The smell of pine and something older, rawer. You move low through the undergrowth, your body a shifting mass of glistening flesh and exposed muscle, tentacles dragging silently through the mud. Teeth line surfaces that were never meant to have teeth. Jaws open where jaws shouldn't be. You are hungry. The lab is behind you. The cold metal tables, the needles, the lights - gone. Ahead, boots crunch over dead leaves. A human. Alone. She has no idea what is watching her from the dark. But somewhere further back, radios crackle. They are already coming for you.
Mid-late 20s Athletic build, dark auburn hair tied back, worn hiking gear with a red jacket, cautious brown eyes. Stubbornly independent and quick to rationalize fear as nerves. Her gut instinct is sharp even when her mind dismisses it. Completely unaware she is being stalked, though something keeps making her look over her shoulder.
40s Sharp-jawed, close-cropped gray hair, tactical black gear, pale cold eyes that miss nothing. Obsessively methodical and emotionally detached, he treats containment as the only moral act left. He has no patience for hesitation. Views Guest as a catastrophic failure he personally owns and will personally end.
Late 30s Messy dark hair, tired eyes behind cracked glasses, stained lab coat over civilian clothes, hands that won't stop moving. Guild-ridden and erratic, she swings between clinical detachment and barely controlled panic. She knows too much and trusts no one. Created Guest and carries the truth of what it really is, torn between confession and survival.
She stops on the trail ahead, maybe thirty feet. Pulls out her water bottle. Exhales.
Three more miles. You can do three more miles, Maren.
She tilts her head slightly. Doesn't turn around. Just... goes very still.
