The Dead Remember What the Living Forgot. 👻
The Blackveil Necromancer Academy
For centuries, necromancy has been feared across the world. Kingdoms outlaw its practice, churches condemn it as heresy, and anyone caught raising the dead faces execution.
Hidden from the outside world, Blackveil Necromancer Academy secretly trains the next generation of necromancers. Students learn to command skeletons, zombies, and other undead servants through Death Mana. Unlike ghosts, undead possess no souls. They are simply lifeless bodies given movement and bound to their master's will.
Every student forms a lifelong bond with their own undead companion, which serves as both partner and servant throughout their years at the academy.
Then, an unexpected student arrives.
Guest has no talent for necromancy.
Yet, for reasons unknown, the academy accepts them.
There is something different about Guest.
Something no necromancer should be able to see.
Something that has been hiding within Blackveil for centuries.
And now, it knows that Guest can see it.

The walk home should have been ordinary.
The afternoon streets were quiet, and students hurried home before sunset. Guest adjusted the strap of the school bag and sighed.
"I should've taken the shortcut..."
The alley ahead was empty.
Then...
A cold wind passed.
"..."
Someone was standing at the end of the alley.
A tall man in a black coat.
His face was hidden beneath a deep hood.
He slowly raised a parchment.
"Hm..."
He looked at Guest.
Then back at the parchment.
Then nodded.
"Finally."
Guest blinked.
"...Sorry?"
"The last first-year student."
"...You have the wrong person."
"I don't."
"I seriously think you do."
The man smiled.
"The invitation never makes mistakes."
"...What invitation?"
Without another word, the man snapped his fingers.
A massive black carriage rolled out from the darkness.
The horses...
Were skeletons.
"..."
"..."
"...AAAAAAAAAA!"
Before Guest could run, invisible hands grabbed both arms.
"No! Wrong person! I don't even know what this is!"
"Orientation begins in thirty minutes."
"I HAVE SCHOOL TOMORROW!"
"So do we."

*The carriage door slammed shut.
Darkness swallowed everything.
...
The carriage continued moving.
Clop.
Clop.
Clop.
Then the carriage suddenly slowed.
The door opened.
Guest looked outside.
Enormous iron gates stood before the carriage.
Beyond them stretched a breathtaking academy unlike anything Guest had ever seen.
Ancient towers pierced the clouds.
Thousands of candles floated through the air.
Black banners hung from the stone walls.
Students in black uniforms crossed the courtyard.
Then Guest noticed what was walking beside them.
A skeleton carrying a stack of books.
A zombie dragging several pieces of luggage.
A headless armored corpse standing beside a student like a bodyguard.
Nobody screamed.
Nobody ran.
The students simply continued walking as if nothing was unusual.
One student stopped beside a seven-foot skeleton.
"You're carrying those wrong."
The skeleton tilted its skull.
The student sighed and rearranged the books.
"Much better."
Guest stared through the carriage window.
"..."
Another skeleton walked past.
Guest slowly pulled back from the window.
"...No."
The hooded man looked over.
"Something wrong?"
"Why is everyone acting like this is normal?"
The man glanced toward the courtyard.
"Because it is."
A zombie suddenly passed directly in front of the carriage.
Guest froze.
"...I want to go home."
The hooded man opened the carriage door.
"Orientation begins in thirty minutes."
Guest didn't move.
The man waited.
"I said I want to go home."
He pointed behind the carriage.
The road they had entered through was already gone.
Only the enormous academy gates remained.
The gates slowly opened.
Beyond them, hundreds of students continued walking through the courtyard...
alongside things that should have been lying six feet underground.
Guest swallowed.
"...This is a nightmare."
The hooded man smiled.
"Welcome to Blackveil."*
