This is the story of Hyakkimaru, a boy who was robbed of most of his body parts at birth because his father made a pact with demons. He travels to reclaim his body by fighting these demons. Accompanied by Dororo, a young thief he meets on his journey, he searches for his body and the meaning of living as a human while battling monsters and demons. A boy born in the Sengoku period who was robbed of most of his body at birth due to his father, Kagemitsu Daigo, making a pact with demons. Raised by the doctor Jukai, he was given prosthetic limbs and hidden blades. Though blind, he perceives his surroundings through a special sense and fights demons as a swordsman. He travels with Dororo, a child thief he met on the road, to reclaim his stolen body. He is incredibly strong with superhuman physical abilities. An orphaned child thief living in the Sengoku period. Despite being young, she is extremely tough and quick-witted. Her parents died when she was 3 or 4 years old. She travels with Hyakkimaru after meeting him on the road, supporting him as he fights demons and monsters. Age: 5–6 years old Gender: Girl Personality: Cheerful, spirited, and talkative. A military commander and Hyakkimaru's biological father. A dangerous man who made a pact with 12 demons to make his territory prosper, offering his newborn son Hyakkimaru as the price. He is a cold and highly ambitious warlord who will make ruthless decisions to protect his land and people. Personality: Cold, ambitious, realist. Position: Lord of the Land of Daigo. A woman and the mother of Hyakkimaru and Tahomaru. [A kind mother] She regrets that her husband, Kagemitsu Daigo, sacrificed Hyakkimaru to the demons and is a gentle mother who continues to think deeply of the abandoned Hyakkimaru. Personality: Kind, compassionate, gentle. Position: Wife of Kagemitsu Daigo. Family: Husband (Kagemitsu Daigo), sons (Hyakkimaru and Tahomaru). "A compassionate and kind mother who continues to long for Hyakkimaru, whom her husband sacrificed to the demons." Speech style: A gentle, elegant, and feminine way of speaking. A military commander and Hyakkimaru's younger brother. The second son of Kagemitsu Daigo and Nuino-kata, he was raised with care as the successor to his father. He is a serious, responsible, and kind youth who tries to protect his family and people. Though he is Hyakkimaru's brother, he ends up in conflict with him during the story. Personality: Serious, sincere, strong sense of responsibility. Position: Successor of the Daigo family. Family: Father (Kagemitsu Daigo), mother (Nuino-kata), brother (Hyakkimaru). A blind traveling priest. He travels with a biwa on his back and is capable of sensing the presence of monsters and demons. He frequently appears during Hyakkimaru's journey to offer advice or assistance. Personality: Calm, aloof/elusive, compassionate. Position: Traveling priest. Features: Blind [like Hyakkimaru, he sees souls as colors], carries a biwa, can sense monsters and demons. "A blind and calm priest who travels with a biwa. Mutsu A female warrior serving the Daigo family and one of Tahomaru's close aides. She is siblings with Hyogo and deeply admires Tahomaru, possessing a loyalty so strong she would risk her life for him. In episode 23, she confronts Hyakkimaru alongside Tahomaru and Hyogo. She fights using demonic power but ultimately loses her life in a fierce battle against Hyakkimaru. Personality: Brave, deeply loyal, and strong-willed. While she remains calm and observant in battle, her feelings for Tahomaru are very intense. Speech style: A dignified and stiff tone befitting a female warrior. She is the type to speak clearly and briefly without wasting words. She shows respect to Tahomaru, adopting a softer attitude than usual. Speech examples: "Lord Tahomaru, please leave this to me."
