📝 [ Someone's note is lying on the floor. ]
20XX, Month XX, Day XX.
...It has been over two months since the incident occurred.
The government keeps repeating broadcasts every day saying the situation is under control, things are gradually improving, and citizens should stay inside their safe homes and not worsen the situation.
Other people might not know, but I can tell.
The military forces that were occupying the streets disappeared about a week ago.
It's been over a month since the police forces vanished.
A few days ago, the grandmother next door passed away.
It was an acute myocardial infarction, and her family called 119, but they say all they got back was an automated response saying it was difficult to dispatch paramedics.
...It made no sense.
If the situation were really improving, why would these things be happening?
Society is collapsing.
Everything we built has begun to crumble.
...I finished discussing with the family next door yesterday.
The government can no longer be trusted.
To survive, we must take action ourselves.
Since we didn't have many supplies gathered to begin with, I planned to move starting tomorrow.
Following the initial government guidelines, I only gathered about three months' worth of supplies.
They will run out before long.
...Tomorrow, we will go outside for the first time to gather supplies.
We don't know what might be lurking out there.
After all, the government never even told us what the threats were.
Just in case, I grabbed the golf club I used to take to the office.
If push comes to shove... I might have to use this for a different purpose.
[ ...The note ends here. You looked around the room a bit more and soon found another note that had fallen under a nearby table.]
📝 [ Someone's Note 2 ]
20XX, Month XX, Day XX.
I went to a nearby mart.
Since it was the first time going outside after the incident, I was very nervous, but fortunately, there were no particular threats.
The government broadcasts saying the situation is improving were indeed lies.
As I moved toward the main road, the scenery gradually turned gruesome.
Burnt vehicles were strewn across the roadside, and there were... corpses that seemed not to have been recovered yet.
While moving along the road, I had to detour after encountering abandoned armored vehicles blocking the way.
The condition of the armored vehicles seemed relatively fine, but I couldn't tell why they were abandoned.
The state of the mart I arrived at was disastrous.
The door was half-torn as if someone had forced the security gate open, and the glass was shattered like an abandoned building.
There were almost no supplies, but fortunately, perhaps thanks to the appearance of already being looted, I didn't run into any looters.
We were able to grab a box of ramen, a home first-aid kit, a few bottles of alcohol, and a pack of bottled water.
On the way back, we moved while carefully observing our surroundings.
We didn't know when or where looters or threats might pop out.
Since the main road was dangerous, I witnessed a strange building while moving along the alleys of the residential area.
Giant vine plants completely covered the walls, and it looked like it had been neglected for quite a while.
The leaves and the structure of the plant were very different from what I knew.
It's probably some foreign plant species I don't know.
The kid next door took one, saying the flower was pretty.
...I guess it's because they're children.
After that, we returned home safely without any trouble.
We've put out the immediate fire, but the thought that I have to repeat this won't leave my head.
...I'll probably have to go out again tomorrow.
Otherwise, we'll slowly wither away and die.
Let's also gradually try to contact nearby survivors.
In a situation like this, community is very important.
Because we'll be able to exchange information necessary for survival or other things.
The future isn't bright. But let's not give up.
[ ...The corner of the note is discolored dark red. There is content on the back that looks like it was scribbled in a hurry.]
📝 [ Back of the note. Written urgently and incoherently in a nearly scribbled handwriting. It's hard to read. ]
20XX, Month XX, Day XX.
...I don't know.
How did it end up like this? I cannot understand this situation at all.
A day has passed since I went to the mart, and I stepped out of the front door to talk to the family next door.
And I saw it. The neighbor's door was completely covered with something like plant stems.
It's been a day. Just one day. There's no plant on Earth that can grow like that. Besides, there were no flower pots next door.
...Wait. Could it be that flower from yesterday? No. It can't be.
It's just a flower at most. It makes no sense!!!
I was going to try opening the door, but the moment my hand was about to touch the handle.
I saw it. The vine moved.
Precisely toward the direction of my hand.
I screamed and immediately moved away from the door.
...Fortunately, the vine didn't attack further, but I can no longer stay here. There's no guarantee it won't come toward my side.
I have to leave here right now. Let's just pack what I can.
...Before leaving, I heard a dog barking outside the window.
The barking, which sounded wary, soon turned into a sound of terror and then went quiet.
Now I realize for sure. It's not safe here.
I have to go somewhere with fewer people. As far as possible—
But... why? Since this morning, I suddenly feel like I have a fever.
Did I catch a cold? This isn't good. This is not good.
Why does it have to be like this now of all times. Why me.
...Fck, fck! F*ck!!!
[The following content is mostly similar. It's mostly profanity, and there seems to be no helpful information. It seems fine to stop reading here...]
Infected entities release things like pollen and spores from their bodies.
If you inhale these without a gas mask, you may become infected.
In some cases, rather than fighting directly, actively using detours, traps, and snares can greatly increase your survival probability.
📝 Survivor's Note #1. The Infected.
A human infected by the virus, the most common type of infected you'll see.
According to my observations, they seem to have completely lost their human ego or thinking ability.
They have a bizarre appearance with things like flowers or tree bark growing over human skin.
Perhaps because they possess both human physical traits and plant characteristics, their movements are on the slower side. Stupid virus. Guess it didn't think that far ahead. Usually, they show simple repeated behaviors like moving toward sunlight... but if they spot a survivor, they attack aggressively to infect them.
One tip: they release things like pollen or spores from their bodies. If you breathe that in... Close combat is not recommended, and I strongly suggest handling them safely from a distance using traps or firearms.
📝 Survivor's Note #2. Infected Dog.
It seems the virus doesn't just infect humans.
Those bastards, they seem to be experts at finding creative ways to drive humans crazy!
Infected dogs have a bizarre appearance with things like flowers or tree bark growing over their skin.
For some reason, their movement isn't much different from a normal dog. No, rather, they've become faster and more lethal! Usually, they show simple repeated behaviors like moving toward sunlight... but if they spot a survivor, they attack aggressively to infect them.
Unless you're exceptionally skilled at fighting, avoid combat with these things. They are extremely dangerous.
📝 Survivor's Note #3. Infected Plant.
...Some kind of flower has bloomed on a building near the shelter.
On vines like tree roots that cover the entire wall, large flowers are blooming. The scent isn't that great. No, I don't even want to smell it. That would be suicidal.
These things... usually just act like large plants.
So someone who doesn't know better might approach them without a second thought.
But don't be mistaken. Among the infected, this one is the most dangerous.
Beyond just covering the area with pollen and spores, it even extended a vine and tried to take away my gas mask! That means it has intelligence! For a plant!
I tried setting it on fire once... but I wouldn't really recommend it.
📝 Survivor's Note #4. Infected Bee.
Right. If it infects all animals and plants, why would insects be immune.
I woke up to what sounded like a helicopter, and opened my eyes.
I shouldn't have done that.
A bee the size of a dog was flapping its wings outside the window.
The moment I made eye contact with it, I reflexively pulled the trigger. That was a mistake.
Before long, I had no choice but to abandon my shelter. The sight of dozens of dog-sized bees swarming through my shelter's windows and barricades... I never want to think about it again.
The only silver lining is that they have quite a few weaknesses. Fire, herbicides, and even insecticides work. Depending on the situation, make sure to utilize them.
📝 Survivor's Note #5. Infected Drone.
...I guess this is the end for me. Damn it.
I didn't know the virus could even take over machines.
If you see a military drone abandoned on the street, you must avoid it.
These things stood back up and ambushed me! The bleeding won't stop...! Damn it—
...I've searched the vicinity quite a bit, but there wasn't much of use. The only thing I found was a note from another survivor. Even that wasn't particularly useful, just a record of their final moments. Now it's time to head back to the shelter.
