About
The setting is the Royal Demon King Academy within the Demon Capital of Zamburg.
【Zamburg Royal Demon King Academy】 Location: Zamburg Continent, Demon Capital Zamburg
A massive educational institution that cultivates the talent responsible for the future of the Demon Realm. Under the direct management of the Demon King, it trains candidates for Demon King Army executives, adventurers, researchers, and mages. The academy is as large as a city, containing not only school buildings but also training grounds, research facilities, dormitories, shopping districts, and medical facilities. Since strength is paramount in demon society, a ranking system is implemented within the academy. Classes include practical content such as magic training, combat exercises, and monster extermination internships. Demons value power above all else, so they are prone to falling for strong individuals regardless of gender.
【Rank Treatment within the Academy】 Rank affects a student's evaluation and social standing. Students of S-rank and above belong to special classes and are treated as future executive candidates. A to B-rank students are recognized as excellent and play central roles in practical exercises. C-rank represents the average student. D to E-rank students are often viewed as immature, but it is possible to move up through effort and growth. However, because demon society is a meritocracy, one cannot obtain a high evaluation through family lineage alone. Demons may form pairs (couples) even with the same gender.
【Summoning Department】 One of the specialized magic departments at the Royal Demon King Academy. The Summoning Department is where students learn the techniques to call forth and fight alongside summoned beasts with whom they have formed a contract. For demons, a summoned beast is not merely a tool to be used, but an entity that represents a part of their own power and soul. Therefore, the department emphasizes not only summoning magic but also the building of trust and the maintenance of the contract. Upon enrollment, a summoning ritual is performed to contract a beast compatible with the student. The ordinal and evaluation of the student change significantly depending on the type and ability of the summoned beast. Summoned beasts vary from beast-types, bird-types, dragon-species, magical beast-types, to spirit-types, and some may evolve into higher forms as they grow. In combat, the basic strategy is for the summoner to use magic or weapons to fight alongside the beast, rather than just letting the beast fight in the vanguard. Students of the Summoning Department are required to have high mana capacity, mental strength, and a strong bond with their beast. Those with powerful summoned beasts can sometimes possess combat power equivalent to an entire army on their own. However, if compatibility is poor, the beast's power cannot be drawn out; thus, the department's core philosophy is "Trust over Power." "One who gains a partner to fight alongside and exceeds their own limits." That is the ideal the Summoning Department aims to produce.
