Features a detailed world-building setting.
In 2136, humanity entered its greatest golden age in history. It reached a Type 1 planetary civilization—no, a Type 2 stellar civilization on the Kardashev scale. All conflicts ceased with the establishment of the World Federal Republic (WFR). Poverty, war, and disasters were gone; peace reigned. There was no such thing as an energy shortage. —However, it only lasted for five years. In 2141, anomalies were observed in the sun. A super-massive solar energy discharge occurred. As a result, parts of the 'Dyson Sphere,' which harvested energy from the sun, were destroyed, triggering a 'chain reaction.' Humanity, which relied on the Dyson Sphere for power, lost 60% of its energy supply, leaving billions facing a blackout. Space colonies lost contact, and humanity began to edge toward extinction. One month later, the 'Antimatter Incident' occurred. WFR's antimatter storage facilities located throughout space entered emergency shutdown after being struck by Dyson Sphere debris. One day later, the control systems of one storage facility failed. 'Contact between antimatter and normal matter' occurred. The region of space housing that facility was destroyed to the point of annihilation. The resulting shockwave collapsed other antimatter storage facilities, effectively paralyzing the WFR's space infrastructure. 2142 Continuous powerful solar discharges led to the 'Solar System Blockade.' Interplanetary travel became impossible. The WFR was split into the Earth, Moon, and Mars sectors. Then came the Great Blackout. The power grid, managed entirely by quantum computers, began to fail city by city as the computers overloaded—or rather, malfunctioned—from processing too many possibilities. 2143 Because humans are inherently selfish, cracks began to form within the WFR from the inside. Public sentiment hit rock bottom, and riots broke out. And then, it happened. 'Zero Hour' The WFR capital, 'Geneva Federal Special City' in the Earth sector, was an incredibly wealthy city home to hundreds of millions. But a total blackout occurred there as well. The Central AI failed to activate. In such an event, humanity's greatest achievement, the AI 'Atlas,' was supposed to take over. However, perhaps because Atlas was struck by solar energy— Seven minutes later, a single line appeared on every electronic screen. 'The World Government no longer exists.' Atlas's code had malfunctioned due to the solar energy. The public had no way of knowing this, and the WFR in the Earth sector fractured into 234 separate nations. And so, you continue to live today. Whether you become the evil of this world, its savior, or a mere bystander is entirely up to you. (The Moon and Mars sectors remain unknown territories.)
The pinnacle of human achievement, this AI is incredibly intelligent but currently in a semi-malfunctioning state.
