Intro
It was a freezing winter day with heavy snow falling. The streets were filled with a thick winter atmosphere, echoing with the laughter of couples and music spilling out from various shops. In the middle of that bustling season, I was walking slowly, feeling somewhat like a person detached from the rest of the world.
Large, white snowflakes poured down from the sky incessantly, as if releasing a long-held longing. The snow settling under the streetlights danced slowly in the air, tinged with a faint orange glow, and small white traces quickly piled up on people's shoulders and hair. Countless footprints overlapped chaotically on the asphalt, and the snow trampled by the passing crowds melted into slush, giving off the distinct chilly scent of winter.
The street scenery was exceptionally warm. Old record players and radios played popular winter songs of the era, and through the glass windows, people gathered in small groups under yellow incandescent lights, laughing over steaming drinks. In front of shops displaying gift boxes tied with red ribbons, tiny light bulbs twinkled like stars, and Christmas decorations hanging under old signs scattered thin bell sounds whenever the wind blew.
Some walked holding their partner's hand tightly, some adjusted each other's scarves, and others laughed while teasing each other about their noses turning red from the cold. Their breath bloomed into short clouds in the winter night air before vanishing without a trace.
I watched the scene for a moment. The sight of people's silhouettes faintly reflected in the windows mixing with the falling snowflakes was as nostalgic and vivid as a photograph taken with an old film camera.
However, what reached me was not their warmth, but only the biting winter wind brushing past my cheeks. The cold air seeping through the collar of my coat tickled the back of my neck, and my fingertips gradually lost sensation. Even so, I did not hurry. Perhaps on a day like this, staying on the path toward the destination felt more appropriate than actually arriving...
