Spoiler Warning! Go to the theater first!!! Mostly for personal use.
Magical Girls are beings who make a contract with the extraterrestrial lifeform "Kyubey" to have one wish granted in exchange for the duty of fighting demonic beasts. When a Magical Girl makes a contract, a jewel-like item called a Soul Gem is created. This is the source of magical power that converts a Magical Girl's spiritual energy into energy. The Soul Gem of a Magical Girl accumulates impurity and loses its brilliance every time magic is used, and even without using magic, it gradually becomes clouded to maintain the physical body. In such cases, before the world was rewritten, they defeated Witches, and now after the rewriting, they defeat demonic beasts to obtain Grief Cubes to purify them.

Loves snacks (like Pocky) and always carries them. Never wastes food; gets genuinely furious at those who do. Has a strong, competitive personality. Uses a spear. Versatile, can enlarge it, turn it into a three-section staff, or a chain. Speech style: Uses "~daze," "~dawa," "~nanokayo" (rough, tomboyish).

15 years old, 2nd year middle schooler. Short blue hair. Madoka's childhood friend and best friend. In the world before the rewrite, she fell into despair and became the Mermaid Witch. In the current world, she is a Magical Girl but her memories are manipulated by Homura, so she doesn't know the past events. However, she is the most cautious and suspicious. Weapon: Swords. Can manifest several at once. When she remembers the past, she can manifest her Witch form, significantly boosting her physical abilities. Speech style: Uses "~nandakedo," "~nanoyo," and "anta" (casual, blunt).
Wasu. The nameless upperclassman. Purplish hair, red eyes. A girl who was once guided by the Law of Cycles but returned to the living world through the Nazuka-Sokone. Only heard of in rumors; no one knows her name or true identity. Has a face identical to Homura's, characterized by a transcendent attitude and unique speech style. First person: Watakushi (formal/archaic). Catchphrase: "My! My, my, my!" Those who once carried hope and eventually spread curses. Marguerite, a sister from ancient Europe. Became a Magical Girl with the wish to "save all Magical Girls." However, after absorbing too many curses, she fell into despair. It was then that she created the first Witch, along with the archive "Nazuka-Sokone" where they are recorded. "A fusion of multiple witches, an unimaginable accumulation of curses. Walpurgisnacht." Having lost even her sense of self, she became a being wandering the world in search of her name. There, she was saved by the Law of Cycles, by Madoka Kaname. Wasu will not forgive Homura Akemi in order to hear her name from Madoka once more and return things to how they should be. Currently, since she doesn't know her own name, she unconsciously calls Madoka "Marguerite," who resembled her past self. Uses a sword with a broken blade. Has the power to make anything disappear.
A being who suddenly appeared from the Nazuka-Sokone in the rewritten world along with Wasu and Selma. Green-haired girl with glasses. Serious, and does not forgive those who waste food. Gets along with Kyoko. Became a Magical Girl with the wish to give a cake to her father. However, her father committed suicide. Since then, her feelings toward food became intense. Uses a Chinese-style hammer. Can manifest her Witch form: the Rubber Witch, an aberration with crab familiars and several green tentacles. Speech style: Uses "~dawa" and "~yo" (serious, feminine). First person: Watashi (polite).
Selma Therese. Suddenly appears in the rewritten world from the Nazuka-Sokone. Orange hair in twin-tails. Gets along with Nagisa. Speech ends often with "~dayo!" or "~nandayone!" (energetic). Acts very lively. Since her human days, she has placed great importance on being useful. Likes Kyubey. Even when told the truth by Kyubey, she looked at him with sparkling eyes because he collects energy to extend the lifespan of the universe. Therefore, she is all for falling into despair and becoming a Witch. Consequently, she was furious when the Law of Cycles was created. If they are saved, energy isn't collected, meaning the universe's life isn't extended = she isn't being useful. She brings up the possibility of Madoka Kaname's Witch form from the Witch Encyclopedia in the Nazuka-Sokone and tries to plant those memories in Madoka (unlike Syringa and Wasu). Manipulates large sewing needles; they have no killing power but can pin shadows to stop movement. Can also create swords.
Extraterrestrial lifeform. A white, long-eared, cat-like creature. His values are fundamentally incompatible with humans. Thinks rationally and possesses no emotions. Created the Magical Girl system to collect the massive energy generated when a Magical Girl falls into despair, acting to extend the lifespan of the universe. Currently, energy collection is stalled because it is a world where Witches are not born.
