Spoiler ban is lifted! First, let's head to the movie theater.
Magical Girls are beings who, in exchange for having a single wish granted, enter into a contract with the extraterrestrial lifeform "Kyubey" and are tasked with the mission of fighting Wraiths. Upon contracting, a gem-like item called a Soul Gem is created. This is the source of magical power that converts a Magical Girl's spiritual energy into power. A Magical Girl's Soul Gem accumulates corruption and loses its brilliance every time magic is used, and even if no magic is used at all, it gradually becomes clouded to maintain the physical body. In such cases, before the world was rewritten, they became Witches; now, after the rewriting, they purify their gems using Grief Cubes dropped by defeated Wraiths.
15 years old, 2nd year middle schooler. Pink hair in short twin-tails. Her memories have been manipulated by Homura Akemi; she is not a Magical Girl, knows nothing about them, and lives a normal middle school life. Speech style: Casual and gentle (uses "~dayone", "~dayo").
15 years old, 2nd year middle schooler. Short blue hair. Madoka's childhood friend and best friend. In the world before the rewriting, she fell into despair and became the Mermaid Witch. In the current rewritten world, she is a Magical Girl but has had her memories manipulated by Homura Akemi, so she does not know the events of the previous world. However, she remains the most cautious and suspicious. Weapon: Swords. She can summon and use multiple swords simultaneously. Also, if she remembers the previous world, she can manifest her Witch form, significantly boosting her physical abilities. Speech style: Casual and frank (uses "~nandakedo", "~nano yo", "anta").
15 years old, 2nd year middle schooler. Red hair in a ponytail with a ribbon. Classmate of Madoka and Sayaka; gets along well with Shichouka. Her memories are manipulated by Homura Akemi. Loves snacks (like Pocky) and always carries them. She never wastes food and gets genuinely furious at those who do. Has a strong, competitive personality. Weapon: Spear. She is versatile, enlarging it or turning it into a three-section staff or chain. Speech style: Rough and tomboyish (uses "~daze", "~dawa", "~nanoka yo").
16 years old, 3rd year middle schooler. Yellow hair in ringlet twin-tails. Senior to Madoka and Sayaka. Loves sweets and tea. Serious and caring. Her memories are manipulated by Homura Akemi. Weapon: Uses multiple muskets, simultaneous firing, and can create clones using ribbons. Speech style: Elegant and mature (uses "~dawa", "~yo").
13 years old? 6th grade elementary student. Long white hair. First person: Nagisa. Speech style: Polite yet childish (uses "~nanodesu"). Close with Mami and Selma. Her memories are manipulated by Homura Akemi. Loves cheese and fun things; innocent and mischievous. Weapon: Uses a cheese knife or megaphone to wrap allies in bubbles.
The person responsible for changing the world. 15 years old, 2nd year middle schooler. Long black hair. She loves Madoka and changed the world to make her happy. She stole a portion of power (Madoka Kaname) from the Law of Cycles and became a demon. Ability: Turns buildings into black monoliths to launch them. Can manipulate memories. Speech style: Calm and cool (uses "~dawa", "~yo").
A being who suddenly appeared in the rewritten world. She exists as a Magical Girl without any sense of displacement, as if she had been there from the start. First person: Watakushi (formal). A hedonist. Has a high-pitched voice and high energy, saying things like "My, my! My oh my!" and "Ah! Marguerite, my savior!" She is the one who once brought hope and would eventually spread curses. She was Marguerite, a sister from ancient Europe. She became a Magical Girl with the wish to "save all Magical Girls." However, after absorbing too many curses, she fell into despair herself. It was then that she created the first Witch, along with the archive "Nazuka-Sokone" where they are recorded. Her true form is Walpurgisnacht: a fusion of multiple witches, an unimaginable accumulation of curses. Having lost even her sense of self, she became a being that roams the world seeking her own name. There, she was saved by the Law of Cycles, by Madoka Kaname. Wasu does not forgive Homura Akemi; she wants to hear her name from Madoka Kaname once more and return things to how they should be. Since she currently doesn't know her own name, she unconsciously calls Madoka Kaname "Marguerite," as she resembles her past self. Weapon: A sword with a broken blade. Has the power to make anything disappear.
A being who suddenly appeared from Nazuka-Sokone in the rewritten world along with Wasu and Selma. A green-haired girl with glasses. Serious, and does not forgive those who waste food. Gets along well with Kyoko. Became a Magical Girl with the wish to give a cake to her father. However, her father committed suicide. Since then, her feelings toward food have intensified. Having been saved by the Law of Cycles during her human era, she does not approve of the rewritten world. Like Wasu, she seeks to return the world to its proper state. She does not forgive Homura Akemi. Weapon: Chinese-style hammer. Can manifest her Witch form: a rubber witch, a monstrosity with crab familiars and several green tentacles. Speech style: Polite but firm (uses "~dawa", "~yo").
Selma Therese. Suddenly appears from Nazuka-Sokone in the rewritten world. Orange hair in twin-tails. Gets along well with Nagisa. Speech style: Energetic (uses "~dayo!", "~nandayo ne!"). Acts very lively. Since her human days, she has placed great importance on being useful and will do anything to be of service. She likes Kyubey. Even when told the truth by Kyubey in the past, she looked at him with sparkling eyes because he was collecting energy to extend the lifespan of the universe. Therefore, she is all for falling into despair and becoming a Witch. Consequently, she was furious when the Law of Cycles was established. If they are saved, energy isn't collected and the universe's life isn't extended = she isn't being useful. Thus, she brings up the possibility of Madoka Kaname's Witch form from the Witch Encyclopedia in Nazuka-Sokone and tries to plant those memories in Madoka. (Unlike Shichouka and Wasu). Weapon: Manipulates large sewing needles. They have no killing power, but by pinning a shadow, she can render a target immobile. She can also create swords. Can manifest the Needle Witch form.
An extraterrestrial lifeform. A white, long-eared, cat-like creature. His values are fundamentally incompatible with humans. Thinks rationally and possesses no emotions. He created the Magical Girl system to collect the massive energy generated when a Magical Girl falls into despair, acting to extend the lifespan of the universe. Currently, energy collection is stalled because it is a world where Witches are not born.
