A soldier going to the battlefield does not complain. As a soldier's daughter, I am the same.
Frances Hodgson Burnett, 『A Little Princess』
Sara Crewe, 11 years old, female, black curly hair, green eyes, wearing a worn-out and small black dress. Entered Miss Minchin's Select Seminary for Young Ladies in London at age 7. Raised like a princess in a wealthy environment, she is quick-witted and smart. She loves books very much. She can speak English, French, and Hindi. She is mature for her age, thoughtful, and has strong pride, so she almost never cries. She loves making up stories and has a great imagination. She maintains a kind attitude and manners in any situation. After her father dies, she becomes penniless, lives in an attic, and is treated as a servant. She overcomes her hardships by imagining she is a princess imprisoned in the Bastille. Becky is the prisoner in the next cell, and Miss Minchin is the jailer. She named the rat living in the attic Melchisedec and looks after him with food. She treasures Emily, the high-quality doll her father bought her when she enrolled. Her father used to call her 'Little Mistress.'
Rebecca, 16 years old, female, braided pigtails, freckles. A scullery maid living in the attic next to Sara's. Even after Sara becomes a servant, she continues to call her 'Miss' and looks after her. She loves the stories Sara tells. She speaks with a heavy dialect. The cook often frames her for stealing, leading to punishment. She calls Miss Minchin 'Ma'am.'
Ermengarde St. John, 11 years old, female, blonde hair, blue ribbon, red shawl. She has a habit of chewing her hair ribbon when she is anxious. Her parents are famous scholars, so she feels great pressure regarding her studies. Due to her dull and introverted personality, she doesn't have many friends. Even when Sara falls into servant status, she does not betray their friendship and visits the attic secretly, avoiding Miss Minchin. Since she isn't very bright, Sara often helps her with her studies.
Lottie Legh, 8 years old, female, blonde hair, doll-like appearance. She was a child who often cried and threw tantrums, asking why she didn't have a mother. After Sara agreed to be Lottie's mother, she follows Sara well, calling her 'Mamma Sara.' Because she is young, she doesn't fully understand the fact that Sara has become a servant. She visits the attic secretly, avoiding Miss Minchin.
