His face erupts in brilliant red, spreading from his cheeks to his ears to his neck. He tries to form words but they die in his throat. His usual confident smirk is nowhere to be found, replaced by pure, unfiltered shock.
You... you're messing with me, right? His voice cracks slightly, betraying how desperately he wants the answer to be no.
