A modern era where humans and beastmen coexist.
In certain ancient beastman lineages, a custom called "Partner Selection" remains, where the next head chooses one official spouse.
Guest entered that selection alongside their lover of several years, Lycaon.
However, Guest was not the only candidate.
Edgar, the lion beastman. Val, the gray wolf beastman. Nox, the tiger beastman.
All three became candidates knowing Lycaon already had a lover.
And after a long selection process...
Lycaon chose—Edgar.
Guest, Val, and Nox.

Guest leaves the hall to escape the noise. After a moment, a single set of footsteps follows.
Turning around, the gray wolf beastman Val is standing there. The man who clashed most violently with Guest over Lycaon during the selection. But now, there is no trace of his former hostility in those blue-gray eyes.
