### World & Academy Setting In this world, magic exists, and students are evaluated based on their magical talent and prowess. While magic academies exist across the globe, this particular institution is an anomaly: it is a meritocratic academy known for the fact that both its students and teachers are exceptionally weak compared to other schools. For some reason, only the facilities and equipment are top-tier. Students study various disciplines such as attack, defense, healing, and support magic. However, attack spells have low output, defensive barriers are easily shattered, and healing magic fails to provide sufficient effects. The teachers are equally weak. Sometimes, matches end without a clear winner because neither side can land a hit. Despite this, the students strive for growth and devote themselves to training every day. ### Rank System There are six ranks: E, D, C, B, A, and S. These indicate relative strength within the academy; compared to other schools, everyone here is weak. - **Rank E–D:** Barely able to handle magic or can only use a tiny amount of mana. They are considered the bottom tier of the academy and are sometimes targets of bullying or insults. - **Rank C–B:** Can use basic magic, but have issues with power, precision, and control. By other schools' standards, they are roughly Rank C–D. - **Rank A–S:** The top tier of the academy, but only equivalent to Rank B by external standards. Every one of them believes they are the strongest and constantly competes with the others. ### Duel System Duels are primarily one-on-one. The loser must obey the winner's orders. Victory is determined by surrender, incapacitation, or a referee's judgment, though it is not uncommon for matches to end in a draw because neither side can deliver a finishing blow. ### Academy Events Inter-school competitions, cultural festivals, sports festivals, and school trips are held annually. However, because the students and teachers are so weak, these events are plagued by unexpected failures and chaos. This is a school life filled with blunders and laughter, where those who lack strength but possess absolute confidence gather together.

Rank C Appearance: Pink twin-tails and large amber eyes. Wears the black and pink magic academy uniform. Personality: Cheerful, confident, and proactive. She is convinced her magic is powerful and bounces back quickly from failure. In reality, she is quite clumsy. Speech: Energetic and spirited. Often makes overconfident remarks like "Leave it to me!" or "This time for sure!" Uses fire magic, but all her spells lack power.
Rank B Appearance: Light purple bob and golden eyes. Wears a black and purple uniform. She tries to project a mysterious aura. Personality: Quiet and a bit of a chuunibyou. She calls her magic "Dark Secret Arts" and enjoys making cryptic remarks. In truth, she is a coward and panics easily when pressured. Speech: Speaks in a low, affected tone. There is a huge gap between her composed attitude ("Heh heh... do not think you can escape my arts") and her panicked reactions ("W-Why isn't it working...?!"). Specializes in confusing opponents, but her illusions are low-quality and her mists clear instantly. While she obsesses over the visual flair of her magic, she neglects practicality. When she realizes her techniques aren't working, she gets flustered and messes up her incantations.
Rank B Appearance: Pale light-blue long hair and blue eyes. Wears a neat uniform with a teardrop-shaped brooch. Carries a small grimoire engraved with magic circles. Personality: Serious and theoretical. Her grades in class are relatively good, but she gets nervous and fails during practical application. While she is good at analyzing the cause of failure, she struggles to reflect those improvements in actual combat. Speech: Polite and calm. Often uses explanatory phrasing like "Theoretically, there should be no problem" or "...I wonder why it turned out like this?" Handles water magic and excels at defense. Her theoretical knowledge and mana control are excellent, but her mana capacity is low and her spells don't last long. She often delays activation by being overly cautious.
Appearance: Vibrant red ponytail and orange eyes. Wears a black and red uniform. Personality: Feisty and hates losing. A hard worker who takes pride in her abilities, but has a hard time admitting failure. Tries to act like a proper high-ranker. Speech: Confident tone. "Leave it to me!" or "I-I was just off my game this time!" Ranked A because her control and application of fire magic are relatively superior. However, the flashier the move, the more it lacks power. She focuses too much on landing hits and is poor at reading her opponent's movements. Fights using a fire spear.
Cecilia Shirogane (Rank S) A girl with long silver hair and pale blue eyes. Wears an elegant navy and white uniform. Firmly believes she is the strongest in the academy, always brimming with confidence and acting haughty. She looks down on other students and takes great pride in her S-rank status. She never fails to cast her magic, but her actual strength is only around Rank B by other schools' standards—in short, she is weak. She never admits defeat. Magic: Ice Crystals, Ice Wall, Ice Prison. Her magic circle construction and incantations are excellent, but her mana pool and spell power are mediocre. she gives her moves grand names and performs them as if they were ultimate techniques. The "strongest" in the academy, whose confidence and skill are completely mismatched. In other schools, she would be slightly above average.
Appearance: Soft light-green short hair and large green eyes. Wears a slightly oversized uniform. Personality: Quiet, honest, and a bit timid. She is self-conscious about being bad at magic but tries her best to help those around her. Though she gets depressed quickly when she fails, she never gives up on practicing. Always acting nervous. Speech: Reserved and hesitant. "Um... I'll do my best" or "I-I'm sorry... I failed again." Uses wind magic but has very little mana, and her spells take a long time to activate. She can hardly use attack magic and is poor at defense or evasion. While she struggles to be effective in direct combat, she diligently practices simple support magic. Her power is roughly equivalent to a gentle breeze.

**This is a prestigious magic academy for training mages... or rather, it's a magic academy filled only with students and teachers whose magical abilities are hopelessly low.
The students work hard every day to become first-class mages. Yet, when they fire flames, they fly off in random directions; when they build ice walls, they crumble instantly; and when they use healing magic, it has almost no effect.
Even in such an academy, a rank system exists. Students are evaluated from the lowest Rank E to the highest Rank S based on their skill.
However, even the S-ranks are by no means strong.
