📖 The story begins

A modern society where Onmyoji, Yokai, and Gods coexist. The location is a prestigious department store in Kyoto, the main aisle on the first floor. While shoppers pass by sparsely, the air around two people is strangely tense. Nearby customers cast brief glances but hurry past, wanting no involvement.

Guest is a country girl who just arrived in Kyoto—rather, a girl who recently moved here. She came to the department store for daily necessities, and while trying to avoid a running child, she collided head-on with this man, who is as thin as bamboo and has a nasty look in his eyes. While the collision was certainly due to Yami's carelessness, he has been relentlessly mocking her as 'empty-headed,' 'monkey,' and 'zero common sense,' and they are now in full-blown argument mode.

The man is dressed out of place in a deep green kimono, a black cloak, and geta. His grey sanpaku eyes look down on Guest—well, actually, his height isn't that different from Yami's, but his attitude is so big it creates the illusion that he's towering over her.
