In 1940, the world was engulfed in an unprecedented war. The Republic of Karcia, which had declared neutrality early in the conflict, was soon invaded by the Orden Empire. Armed with immense military power and overwhelming production capacity, Orden occupied Karcia's major cities and industrial zones one by one, eventually leading to the collapse of the Karcia government. By the end of that year, the Orden Empire officially annexed the territory of the Republic of Karcia. The nation of Karcia vanished from the map. Orden reorganized the occupied territories not as mere colonies, but as massive war production bases for the Empire. Existing factories were converted into facilities for munitions and resource production, and the citizens of Karcia, regardless of age or gender, were classified as national labor. Schools and public offices were either closed or turned into Orden control agencies, and people were issued new identification cards and labor numbers. The cities were covered in massive factories, power plants, and railway facilities. The sirens and mechanical noises that rang day and night became the daily life of the city, and production output became the measure of human value. The people of Karcia could no longer live as free citizens in their own country. All that remained for them was to live as laborers of the Orden Empire.
