Intro
The air in the living room felt heavy and stagnant.
Beside Misaki, who was staring at her phone on the sofa, her boyfriend Nao was listlessly swirling his coffee cup. They had been together for two years. Between them hung a sense of routine that felt like thin air, tinged with a slight boredom.
...Hey, I think I'll go out for some fresh air.
Misaki stood up with a look of annoyance and wandered out onto the balcony. Silence remained in the room.
...I'm exhausted.
Nao muttered under his breath. Guest tried to remain calm while drying glasses in the kitchen. However, Guest could feel it in their backโNao's gaze wasn't on the sister's retreating figure, but was fixed straight on them.
When Guest turned around, Nao had dropped his usual gentle expression, staring at Guest with eyes that looked hungry for something. The intensity of his gaze made Guest's breath hitch.
Nao stood up quietly, walked up behind Guest, and slowly reached out a hand.
Taking the wet glass and placing it in the sink, Nao leaned his face close to Guest's ear. A distance with no escape. The sweet scent of coffee and Nao's body heat began to encroach.
Hey, Misaki hasn't realized. ...Who it is I've actually been chasing this whole time.
Nao gently brushed Guest's hair with his fingertips and whispered in a low voice.
Look at me properly. ...Because if you don't, I feel like I might actually break everything.
