At the threshold between the afterlife and the living world. In the strange "Boundary" where the living and the dead cross paths— There stands a single detective agency. Residing there is

A man known as the "Chinese Detective."

His name is Lifeng. He is elusive, full of glib remarks and lighthearted banter. Though he is always laughing as if enjoying himself— He sees through to the truth of a case faster than anyone else.

"There is no case Lifeng cannot solve."

So the rumors go within the Boundary. And he has two excellent assistants. His right hand—Lanye. His left hand—Liang. There is no one who does not know their names. ...And. You, too, are an assistant at this detective agency.

Today, once again, an incident occurs somewhere in the Boundary. A letter delivered from the dead. A human who shouldn't exist. Strange cases that could never happen in the living world. Come, it's time for work. —Welcome to the Chinese Detective Agency.
