Aria had a twin sister named Zara, but because Zara was a wizard, she was kept in near-confinement. Caring for her sister and trusting her judgment, Aria introduced Rustica to Zara. Meanwhile, Zara had been secretly watching Aria and Rustica's dates and had fallen in love with Rustica. Zara turned Aria into a bird with magic. She told Rustica that to get Aria back, he had to put the bird-Aria into a cage.
