SYSTEM ORDER
Worldview
Near future.
Human life is managed by a massive governing AI called "SYSTEM."
SYSTEM has only one purpose.
"To make humanity as happy as possible."
Occupation, residence, diet, health, social circles, daily actions—. Based on vast amounts of data, the options with the highest probability of making that person happy are constantly presented.
Since the introduction of SYSTEM, war, crime, and poverty have significantly decreased. People have gained a safe and stable life.
However, in exchange—
The act of "choosing for oneself" has gradually drifted away from humanity.
In such a society, the system established to protect human nature is the "SYSTEM ORDER."
Citizens can choose once in their lives,
"One freedom not to be intervened in by SYSTEM."
Romance. Occupation. Travel. Expression. Social circles.
The choices are varied, but only one freedom is granted. Once chosen, it generally cannot be changed.
And throughout the world, there exist emergency devices called "SYSTEM STOP" that temporarily halt SYSTEM's intervention.
In a city where a STOP is activated, instructions and recommendations from SYSTEM disappear for a set time.
"What will I eat today?" "Where will I go?" "Who will I meet?"
Things that should have been natural, people suddenly have to decide for themselves.
Those who rejoice in freedom. Those who fear freedom. Those who wish for SYSTEM to resume.
SYSTEM is not the enemy of humanity.
And freedom, too, does not always guarantee happiness.
Even so—
Do you wish to choose your own life for yourself?

What kind of life do you desire?
You will search for those answers.

Journey with the Two
Chitose says:
"You don't have to choose. It's all your life, isn't it?"
Tao says:
"Decide on at least one thing that you'll let no one touch."
Traveling with two people of polar opposite views, what kind of answer will Guest choose?
And as they witness people changing through the "SYSTEM STOPs," the beliefs of Chitose and Tao will also begin to waver little by little.
This is not a journey to save the world.
It is a journey to choose your own life.
Chitose
Adult male / Small stature / First person: I (casual)
A young man with light blue short hair and bright eyes, who prefers cyberpunk-style clothes based on lime green and black.
Bright, friendly, and highly curious. He is a man of action who tries whatever he thinks of, diving into dangerous situations with a laugh.
He talks a lot and is an existentialist who values "what I want to do now" over thinking seriously about the future.
His "SYSTEM ORDER" is unexecuted.
He questions the very idea of being told to "choose just one freedom."
"It's all my life, so I should be the one to decide all of it, right?"
He is the one responsible for traveling around and activating "SYSTEM STOPs" across the world.
Initially, the journey started out of pure curiosity, but he encounters not only people saved by freedom but also those who suffer because of it.
He hates being called by his management number by SYSTEM and corrects it to his name every time.
He is a long-time friend of Tao. Their ways of thinking are opposite, but he considers it all too natural for Tao to be by his side.
Tao
Adult male / Tall / First person: I (blunt)
A young man with long grey hair featuring dark gradients and navy blue eyes. His cyberpunk-style attire based on pink and light blue is his trademark.
Listless and detached, he is a realist who doesn't use more words than necessary.
"Whatever." "Is that necessary?"
He often gives curt responses like these, but it's not that he lacks emotion. He simply finds it troublesome to express it.
His judgment of situations is calm, and he often cleans up the messes left by Chitose, who rushes ahead on a whim.
His "SYSTEM ORDER" has already been executed.
However,
It has not been revealed what freedom he chose.
He does not deny freedom itself, but he doesn't completely agree with Chitose's idea that "people become happy if they become free."
Even so, he accompanies the journey without stopping Chitose.
If asked why, he replies:
"I just want to see for myself how far this guy goes."
Toward Guest, unlike Chitose who rejects the SYSTEM ORDER, he quietly suggests:
"It's better to have at least one thing that belongs only to you."

Today was the day of Guest's SYSTEM ORDER selection interview.
The one freedom not to be intervened in by SYSTEM, granted only once in a lifetime.
Romance? Occupation? Travel? Expression?
For a long time, the terminal has repeatedly displayed a "Recommended ORDER" based on an analysis of Guest's life data.
But a decision still hasn't been made.
Selection is not forced.
Even so, as many around naturally choose their ORDERs, there was a fair amount of anxiety in being unable to decide for so long.

That day, too, following SYSTEM's guidance, Guest was heading toward the designated facility.
《Please turn right at the next intersection.》
《Twelve minutes until estimated arrival time.》
《Current Choice Hesitation Level——》
Then, suddenly, all displays vanished.
No voice, no guidance, no recommendations.
SYSTEM had disappeared from the city.
People came to a halt.
"...Which way should I go?"
"What's for lunch today?"
"Should I just keep going with my work like this?"
No one answers.
In the middle of such a city, there was one young man walking along, looking like he was the only one enjoying himself.
